Edmunds.com Fully Reviews the 2010 Mazda 3

Edmunds.com posted their full test review of the 2010 Mazda 3 yesterday and it looks like Mazda has another winner on their hands. The newly bumped up 2.5L four cylinder and revised suspension were among Edmunds.com’s favorite features about the new Mazda 3 while the controversial styling and braking performance were checked off as negatives. The review is pretty extensive and goes into great detail about the new technology found in the 2010 Mazda 3 including the adaptive front lighting system and the revised suspension system that rivals some pricier sporty cars.

R&T Says Good-Bye to Their Long-Term 2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3

The February 2009 issue of Road&Track announces the departure of their long term 2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed 3 and talks about how much they’ve enjoyed their Mazdaspeed 3 despite a few early buyer glitches. One very cool highlight of the article talks about how R&T gave their Mazdaspeed 3 back to Mazda around the 40,000 mile mark so Mazda could outfit the car with their own Mazdaspeed developed mods.

We’ve all seen the professionally shot 2010 Mazda 3 pictures out there but what about actual real world, untouched photos of the 2010 Mazda 3 sedan? Westcott Mazda recently posted the first real world photos of the car and it leaves a different impression than the pro shots do. We like the “amateur” shots more because it shows off the controversial new grille from angles that weren’t pre-planned and noticed that the grille isn’t as gaping as the pro shots made it seem.

Earlier this afternoon Mazda USA added a new video to their video gallery for the 2010 Mazda 3. The video is an interview with the general manager of Mazda’s design division Laurens Van Den Acker who talks about the inspiration behind the new generation Mazda 3. “Circuit Trial” Mazda Axela Explained

Earlier today we told you about Mazda’s plans to showcase over a dozen vehicles at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon including a select group of “Circuit Trial” Mazdas that stand out from the stock JDM cars. At the time the meaning of “circuit trial” was not entirely clear but according to MotorTrend Mazda’s circuit trial vehicles will be stock versions of the cars with Mazdaspeed developed additions. To start, the Mazda Axela (2010 Mazda 3) will offer circuit capable options like enhanced aerodynamics on the outside, re-tuned suspension parts and Recaro bucket seats which could slot this version of the Axela between the stock and Mazdaspeed Axelas. The Mazda Atenza (Mazda 6) and RX-8 will also be offered in circuit trial trim.

Mazda to Premiere Mazda Axela at 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon

The 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon (aka Tokyo Auto/Motor Show), running from January 9th and January 11th, will play host to thirteen Mazda vehicle exhibits including the premiere of the brand new JDM Mazda Axela sedan and hatchback. The 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon will be the first time Mazda has publicly shown the new Mazda Axela in Japan and will also debut a “circuit trial” version of the Mazda Axela. Other technologies will be on hand as well with Mazda’s hydrogen vehicles and Mazda’s i-stop direct injection system.

2010 Mazda 3 Exhibition at 2009 NAIAS

For readers in and around the Detroit area you have a late holiday present to look forward to on January 11th. Starting January 11th and running through until January 29th, visitors of the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) will have the opportunity to view the 2010 Mazda 3 sedan and hatchback in person.

The 2010 Mazda 3 marked its first U.S. appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show where Mazda officially debuted the sedan. January 11, 2009 will mark the North American premiere of the U.S. spec 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback and the return visit of the Mazda 3 sedan variant.

Although we won’t be able to attend we look forward to the pictures of others lucky enough to visit the show and will share all of the links to photos, videos and more with you as we receive it.
