Default How long should the stock tires last?

I have about 5,700 miles on my Mazda 3 right now and a tire guy I know was showing me how less than half the tread is left on the OEM tires. I've also had a rumbling coming from the front passenger tire which he said could be the steel belt inside the tire was damaged by a pot hole in Pot Hole City -- New York.

Any ideas? Any replacement tire recommendations?

Are you going to run dedicated summer tires and dedicated winter tires or are you going to go with all seasons?

What stock tires do you have? The life varies a lot depending on the style of driving, type of tire, etc.

Goodyear RSAs (stock on 17" rims on the early models) lasted anywhere from 10,000-25,000 miles. But there were tons of complaints on performance and life. (these are also the tires used by most police departments due to low bids. Go figure....

Toyo Proxes? (stock on 16" rims on the early models) lasted a bit longer and are decent tires. I had my set upwards of 25,000 miles but I drove them pretty hard.

For replacement, something with treadwear above 300.
This number isnt standard across all the brands but its a bit of guide.
