Default Headlight Restoring Product

Does anyone have a recommendation for a product to restore headlights? I've found a few that are rated well, but I value the opinions of the members of this forum more than random comments on self serving websites.

Thanks.

If it is just the film on the outside of the headlight, believe it or not avacodo works quite well, simply by rubbing it on. It has a weak acid in it that breaks up the film. Otherwise, I would say go with this...

Another DIY method that can help with minor restoration on UV-opaque'd headlight covers is a mixture of 33% toothpaste (not tooth gel) and 66% baking soda. Apply this concoction and then polish heavily with a terrycloth. I believe most of the kits also include a wet sanding step for really deep imperfection removal.

Fascinating - how does a fruit that, itself, is extremely suseptible to oxidation, work to remove it from a polycarbonate surface? Interesting...

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

Not my cup of tea, but they seem to know what they are talking about, and good for a laugh.

Since this thread is posted in the 2010+ Mazda 3 section, I have to ask: Are the headlights on your 2010 car already deteriorated to the point that they need restoration?

Protege5 has, as you might imagine, a protege5- a very shortlived 5dr hatch from over seven years ago.

I'm pretty thorough about washing and occasionally clay-barring my headlights. I don't expect them to last anywhere near as long as glass but keeping them clean helps them last longer.
