Default Manual leveling headlight knob

So I read the owners manual and it says some models have the manual leveling headlight knob for non-AFS. Why do alot of members not have this feature? Did Mazda decide to take it out before releasing the 2010 US state side?

Okay the knob is this silver disc on the actual headlight its self, not inside the cabin. It has a regular socket type head in metric, not sure of mm. It adjusts both the high beam and low beam at the same time. I can't remember if you rotate it left or right to adjust up or down. It has been a while but I lowered the beam a bit when I put in my DDM HID kit just in case.

Wrong, the manual adjustment the OP is refering to is found on The GT models with factory HIDs, the adjustment is on the lower left dash beside the DSC switch. Models with Halogen lights do not have the manual headlight adjustment.

Op stated non afs cars don't have a knob. non afs = non hid... Standard halogen projectors on the s model and I model non gt. It would be impractical for mazda to fit an interior knob within the cabin to adjust halogen bulbs where the afs is an electronic adjustment which are linked... Halogens are each separate. Therefore I still believe he means the manual adjustment inside the engine bay on the lamp assemblies themselves. Maybe he could clarify

IIRC but someone please correct me if I am wrong...
The 2010 GT 5 door hatch ( which I have) has the HID self leveling headlights...which by the way are required in some European countries, as an anti-glare tactic. So for them it's mandated but for us they call it a "feature"...(marketing)
The 2010 Sport 5 Door, which comes with Halogen headlamps have the leveling buttons located next to where the DSC/AFS buttons are. That's why on the GT model there are button covers over these vacant locations, the 2 small button blanks are for the leveling and the 3rd larger blank is for the Interior lighting kit dimmer knob. I converted all three button blanks to hidden factory style on/off switches for my dual color foot well and rear door pull led mods.

The silver dials located on the rear of the headlight housings under the hood are for adjusting the "base level" height

Okay lets clear something up here. This may be one more case where Mazda does one thing in Canada and something different the US. I live in Ottawa Canada.

I have a GT sport with factory HID headlaights, and I have the manual leveling adjuster on the dash beside the DSC switch. So in Canada non AFS cars with HIDs get a manual adjuster on the dash.

The AFS is part of the tech package here, only it is called the GTE package in Canada, IIRCC the GTE package consists of Push button start, Bose audio system, AFS headlights, oh! and in 2010 you had to buy the leather package in order to upgrade to the GTE package.
With the leather package you got a power seat with memory. Now in 2011 leather and moonroof is standard on the GT but the power seat has been deleted.
Hope this clears up any confusion.

Pat.

That is probably where the confusion is. I took it that since the op was in denver, co that he was talking about the halogens non gt. I did not know the canadian version had HID without the additional extras.

We have the hatchback in the s model and gt model. Stock HID were only on the gt with basically every option and not avail. on the s model.

GT should have an interior 1 & 2 setting in addition to the afs. S models only have the adjustment on the individual housings in the us.

yeah the pictures of the buttons near the DSC, my mazda 3 has only the DSC button and the others including the big long one are covered. I am thinking of getting some footwell lights so is this where the dimmer switch goes? in the long empty button space?

Just need pictures to see how you did it and if im thinking of the same set of buttons you mentioned
