Default iPod integration inop

Ok, So I installed the Mazda iPod integration module today and I cant get it to work. I plug in my touch and it connects for a second then disconnects then re-connects and disconnects again. It seams to be doing it in a cycle but will never stay connected. I can get the word IPOD to display on the HUD but only for about 30 seconds then it defaults back to FM because its not recognizing the iPod. I have tried both my 1st and 2nd gen touches and they both do the same.

Car is a 2010 3 with Bose no sirius. I followed the directions included with the kit and all connections are tight, I cant figure this thing out. Thanks for any help.

Does it have bluetooth? If so make sure you havent synced it with the car. I believe that bluetooth will take precedence over the physical connection. Basically both connections will be fighting over which one gets used.

I had a lot of trouble connecting my iPod to my 2010 Mazda 3 after some OS 3.X update. Somehow they broke compatibility with some devices. Don't remember what revision it was, exactly. I reverted it back to an old-school revision and kept it there ever since. It is REALLY out of date now. Maybe they fixed things in OS 4.X, but I don't want to take the chance of making it incompatible again

Anyone else run into this issue?
