Default Bad second Synchro?

Hey guys.... tell me what you think...

iIe had my 3s for a lil ober a year... driven it cross country 3 times, has bout 24000 on it. However, i cannot do a hardcore 1-2 shift without grinding the second gear synchro.... it is really really really. Essentially its guaranteed to grind if Im pushing it. I have a JBR short shift plate on it, but if occurred even before I put this on... Last month i replaced the gear oil with the ford magical fluid stuff... and the old fluid was dark brown... clearly synchro shavings and what not. My question is this... are my expectations too high for this car, or do i have reason to stock it out and go to the dealer and have it replaced? I find it extremely frustrating that I cannot use my car to its fullest without having that constant griding reminder that I should have bought an civic SI... any thoughts? Thanks you and have a great day

I had this exact issue if yours is the 6-speed. Went to the dealership had it checked out then ended up replacing the sync and gear aswell. they asked how and when it happens I told them, if I shift above 5k in 1rst gear then it happens, no joke the techs / workers looked at me like WTF?? YOU SHIFT ABOVE 5K in FIRST? seriously the guy said and I qoute " you can't shift above 5k 1,2,3rd gear" they aren't made for it". I asked if it will void my warranty if I shift at redline everygear, tech said no, but also said mazda can void it for " abuse" also he told me the ecu logs every time the rev limiter kicks I think he said if you have more than like 50 times it's automatic void.

Hey OrangeVirus1, thanks for your reply. i now feel more confident in my problem. Seems as though Mazda just uses crappy Aisin trans, as the skyactive people have been having trouble too. i hear there's a tsb out for our trannies. Anyways, thanks for the info. I will probably stock out the car and take it in. I just feel much more confident now that I'm not the only one. i guess to a certain extant i need to remind myself that it's a pseudo economy car. As a side note, does your transmission syncs grind anymore? Would you say that the problem has been solved by going to the dealer? Thank you and have a great day!
