Default Hatch wing rattling

I have had my car for about two years and always close the hatch gently. The past few weeks I started hearing a clunk when I closed it. Turned out the wing is loose. Has anyone else had the wing on their hatch loosen up?

My spoiler moves a little bit, but not enough to make a clunk. It has around 1/4 of play in it. I'll probably get it fixed before the warranty runs out, but it hasn't been a big enough issue yet to miss hours at work to take to the dealer.

Yes I had to take it to the dealer to fix it, waranty covered.

There are four nuts that hold it on. Open the hatch on the top of the hatch are two round plastic inserts that need to be popped out with a small screw driver and a pair of needle nose. The other two bolts are covered by the plastic interior piece that runs along the top of the window. Unclip that piece and you'll be able to see the bolts. I'm pretty sure about this, although this is from memory.

It wouldn't hurt to put thread lock on the nuts before tightening. However, be very careful not to drop the nut between the both panels. And, most importantly, do not crank them down too tight, just snug it up.

Are you sure it's the spoiler? I just had my latch replaced. It was making a lot of noise.

When I heard the noise, I was able to identify it as the spoiler. When I went to tighten the nuts up, the passenger side was almost completely off altogether. I guess they are not tightened down too much at the factory and the vibration caused it to loosen up completely. I guess mine was attached on the Friday afternoon shift...

I've had mine tightened twice now, it starts to squeak going down the road at a very high pitch, and clunk when you close it Warranty covers it though...

Any time there is a change in road conditions, not matter if its a small pot hole i couldnt avoid or slightly uneven pavement. I hear a clunk or rattle from the hatch. I orginally thought it was my tools in the back. once i removed the tools i still hear the the noise and i am unsure of what it is. how can i tell what is causing this? i bought my car the first of september 2011 2.5l hatch. thanks for your help.
