Question K&N Typhoon Intake

Just need a little more info on this intake - is it CAI and SRI in one? thats what i was told by somebody. Also how is the install and the power and sound compared to something like a Simota?

I was leaning on the simota for a long time but the K&N says it can add like 6-7hp, even though the simota says "up to" 10hp, it just that sort of writing "up to" - similar to "average weight loss is 100kg!!" means i could be only getting like 2 hp gain.

So yeah what do you guys think which one should i get

Intake will only give you a few horsepower k and n is really good but really expensive the Simota would do the same thing like 3-5 hp
The typhoon is an Sri and it's loud

I believe the K&N is SRI (Short Ram Intake) Power gain on any intake is minimal and you won't feel any difference.. maybe little better throttle response? but thats also debatable. I don't think you'll feel any major gains unless you get the intake and exhaust? or thats what I think you need.

K&N is a reputable brand but then again, they cost more than say the Simota intake I do like the K&N one but its so expensive haha

I do like the fact that K&N comes with a heat shield type thing.. Simota has the "carbon fiber" canister type cover

-edit-

here is the info from K&N

they say its a "cold air intake" but i think its more known as short ram since its right up by the engine instead of down low in the fender well

I have the KyN on my 3 and I had it on my civic Si, let me tell you its teh best thing you can put on your car , sounds great , good product and it give you gains. I did felt a torque gain, and it feel at high end revs the car pulls harder around 6000-7000 revs it seems to be better. I can get a sound clip if ya want .

thanks for the info guys - i know injen and simota and CS all sound great and so does the k&n and thats why its so bloody hard to choose between them! I just dont know anymore i feel like im going around in circles. I want either a simota or k&n and by the sounds of it and what i have read they are pretty similar in gain, similar in sound, similar in appearance (both have heat shields), and the only difference is price - a BIG difference. Just dont understand why this is

awesome cound clips man!!!! that does sound great. Do you have the 2.5L? It seems pretty fast, what other stuff have you done to it, and what exhaust do you have? Dont think mine will sound as good as i only have the 2.0L

But yeah it sounds great! I called a few local dealers near my area today and they said they will get back to me tomorrow on the price of the typhoon, so will wait and see....
