I had 16" steelies on my 3 for a while and recently switched them to the snowflake 17s. The snowflakes came with 205/50/17 stock tires but the tread was fading. I'm looking to buy new tires for them and was wondering if I should stick to the 205/50/17 or switch to 205/45/17 which I was looking at for a while now. Will the 45s make any difference? Will it change the ride, handling or responsiveness of my car? Any help and tips/suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Then do 215s, hence why I gave more than one option.

Yes, reducing the sidewalk height affects the overall performance of the car. Stay with the stock size, you only have negatives if you size down so much.
