Im a car n00b (ish) guy and this car is my baby.

Nothing else =/ I have no check engine lights on, the car runs like a champ still. No lag in the turbo (no more than normal lol), no knocks, only noise is the "pop" or "burp" and its not really loud either. Then when the car is at an idle the valbes sound louder when they "click" over. Please tell me im just paranoid

The obvious is that you are running rich , I would have thought the ECU/MAF would have dealt with the change by now but.......

Check for leaks in the intake as in sounds like the the exhaust is seeing too much O2 and making an adjustment by adding fuel. This would be easier to see with the AP but you are not there yet.

I would suggest FP internals and the AP to be your next modifications if you are going in that direction.

Have you changed out your stock BPV?

Zprice! I was hoping for input from you and warlock on this ( not that I am ungrateful for any help from anyone else!)
No I have not upgraded my bpv yet but, I bought one three days ago and its on its way here. As for leaks in my intake. I habe checked my intake front to back, under and over the car and I dont see anything wrong. All clamps are tight, and all bolts mounted.
Should I be concerned about running rich? I assume thats what all the black speckle on the back of my car is from lol or at least thats what I was told by the dealer (again im a n00b with turbos so the dealer see's or hears from me from time to time)
I cant get the FP and AP until april ($$) and my RP as well but, yes I plan on getting them to set me up for my DP.

Exhaust pop or intake pop?

if exhaust what your hearing is just fuel dump, cars running very rich

if intake there are quite a few things but 1 step at a time

Its an exhaust pop. And if its running rich then how cam I remedy that? I just run supreme out of the pump, nothing is added. ( I did add an octane boost about 6k ago, but have since run it down to empty twice)
I gotta say, all the input so far is making me feel a little more at ease. Wont the bpv I just bought *cough!, toyotech!* help with dumping out that extra build?

Try resetting your ecu by unplugging battery I mean it may not help but if you are running that rich you may need a tune but I'd be surprised if you did with only the intake TIP

I did have the same issue when I installed my CS TIP/SRI but then I put on my TS BPV, tighened down and the afterburn was gone. I don't know what supreme octane is but I run 93 at the present time in Texas, high quality 93 here in Houston. Try sp33dy's comment by pulling the negative, depress the brake a few times, wait 15 and reconnect. I would also clean the MAF sensor, sense you are there, just in case something has gotten on it, this is something I do ofter as a preventative measure.

The soot is a problem with the car, although mine has gone away. You might try changing the oil viscosity to 40 in lieu of 30, I have HEARD this helps a little.

Are you getting afterburn on the time or is this periodic?

Nah it won't help as its usually from a difference between fuel let off and timing. even weather can cause it to pop a little more then normal. as will a cold engine in closed loop and thats usually partially to a free flowing exhaust. its not something to worry about unless it was truely backfiring...i actually do quick on gas to clutch pressed just to make it happen at low rpm in parking garages lol

edit: also, in no way is the pop noise on a decel of shift a "problem" perfectly running/tuned cars will do this. so stop worrying (unless the raw fuel is causing your turbo to turn cherry red under normal driving) ...sorry covering my ass lol
