Want a Speed3 so badly but scared of trade in.....

Hey guys. Quick question I haven't been able to find anywhere. The ms3 base does it come with the LCD that tells u mpg and all that stuff? Or just the red display. I don't have the tech package on my mz3 and it's just red screen so u kinda have to guess mpg.

And FYI, the color scheme of the instrument cluster has been changed on the 2012s. The info screen you refer to is now blue, and the gauges are reddish-pink and white instead of orange and blue the way they were on the 2010s and 2011s. I actually liked the previous colors better - for whatever reason, Mazda also did not change the backlighting of all of the other dash lights, so as a result, the cluster lights and dash lights no longer share the same color scheme. It's weird, no idea why they did this. Not that you really care when you're on boost and enjoying the Saturn V-like acceleration on an onramp.

It's blue and white on the I trims and grey and white on the s and gt trims.

I liked how on my 2011 you could make the gauges really bright. Can't do that on the 2012.

isn't blue actually bad for your eyes at night? something about distracting/makes you see stuff that isn't there?

Yea I heard red is the least disracting at night. That's why I love the 2010-2011 gauges. Plus the blue glow around the red numbers is nice.

not gonna lie, im a huge fan of the 2012 speed3 tach colors but couldnt they match the whole thing red like the one i currently have? i mean i dont have the "electroluminescent" gauges so its not as bright and i would love that feature but the odd coloring gives it an off look to it. Anyway im really happy it has the little lcd screen next to the "red display" letting me know my MPG, i had to guess it half the time, the other half ass calculate it

Honey, once you're in a speed 3 none of that will matter.
