So...it happened. (I got a Speed 3)

I picked up a 2010 Speed 3 in pretty good shape to replace my totaled `16. I had actually been shopping for a Speed when I bough the new one. This one is already off to a hell of a start and I haven`t even had it a week. It had a Corksport intake on it when I got it (which I will be swapping for a JBR and have for sale soon). It needed a little bit of TLC in that the boost bypass tube from the Forge BPV was split, and the plugs in it, while in fantastic shape, were horribly over gapped so I put new ones in just because. I slapped a set of sweet 18x8.5 et35 wheels on it, just put the Magnaflow catback on it today, springs arrive later today, probably do those on wednesday. As soon as I get the Borla from my other car sold I`ll order an AccessPort and fuel pump internals.

My first "power goal" is 330hp. I`ll probably hang out there for a few months to formulate the plan to get me in the 400whp range. It`s not hard to do, but I don`t like to have to max out any component to get results, I`d rather have the car making 385, and capable of 430 than to have it capable of 400 and making 395.

I have some pics. Maybe I`ll post a few...

Well, here`s a "before and (almost) after". Had the black OEM wheels on when I got it, now has the bronze/black XXR 557s and Magnaflow exhaust. I say (almost) after because the springs will be arriving this afternoon but won`t go on for another day or two. The paint was a little neglected by the first owner, nothing terrible or abused, but definitely not loved. A little bit of compound here and there and she shined up nice.

Wow!!! The car looks in very good shape!

If you don't mind, for compound use I would suggest Meguiar's ultimate compound! It has done wonders on my Mazda 3 paint! Have tried other products but nothing comes close to what UC can do to your paint

Thanks!!

And that`s exactly the compound I used. It got out all the water stains, all of the dulled abrasions, and all but a few curious scratches in the roof. Probably going to give the Meguiar`s scratch repair system kit a try on those.

And here she is on H&R. Phase one is done. The next priority is to track down an AccessPort to start phase 2. Finishing phase 2 should have me at about 330whp. I'll reassess at that point and see where I want to go from there. One goal at a time.

You planning for a bigger turbo? I don't think even fully bolted (i.e. intake/tip, full catless 3" exhaust, 50/50 wmi or 33% E85, and intercooler) is going to see that kind of power. 310-320 is maxed out on the little K04.

The short answer: yes.

I have since seen several folks making 320+ with the stock turbo. I have **absolutely** no intention of working the little hair dryer that hard for any longer than the shipping time it takes for the next turbo to arrive. Basically: bolt it, tune it, dyno it, see where it gets me. If it ends up at 305, cool. If it ends up doing 328, also cool. If it does 332, well then friggin` halelujah!!! LOL. The end goal is to be in the 375 range. Much more is really a waste, doesn`t translate well on a daily driver, and sacrifices reliability. I had bragging rights with a 600hp 300ZX. I`ve outgrown that chase. Now I just want a car that`s fun to drive, faster than unsuspecting mustang drivers would expect, and reliable enough for the occasional road trip (even if not as economical).
