" its the strut rubbing on the tire"

That looks like a defective tire or possible under inflation. Your wear is even across the tread so it doesn't look like a factory alignment issue. With the amount of tread you have left at 15k it looks like your tires would have lasted at least 25k if the sidewall didn't separate like that. I'd try to get that tire warranteed.

Stock MS3 comes with -1 neg camber in front. That's not really a lot of neg camber. It can't be the tire rubbing on the strut either if he's on stock wheels. There's a good 10-12mm of room between the tire and strut. Even under hard cornering the tire won't deflect enough to touch. IDK. I'm still thinking defective tire or under inflation. Dunlops or owners fault not Mazda's.

Hell oeveryone, I am at 20K and the front tires lost the inner wall, as I thought it would happen, when the thread on the rest of the tire is still good. Taking to dealer to see answer.
Any chance that under acceleration the bushings/linkage may flex too much and cause the wheels to flare open?

I'm at 16k and mine are doing it too. It's from toe in. Mazda in their infinite wisdom wants us to have high speed stability. This is the price we pay for it.

Hi Warlord, you mean toe out? Excuse my ignorance, but if it was too much toe in, wouldn't it be the wear on the outside shoulder?

Default Same problem.

Just hit 18k with same stock tires and both in the front look exactly the same as yours. Dealership told me the problem was the I needed 2 new tires.

It's a combination of the higher camber the car has, and the mild toe OUT that a front wheel drive car has. Then also a consequence of having a high performance tire that has lower tread depth (8-9/32nds). So mileage wear shows much faster on MS3 tires than standard MZ3s.

Hi All,

I have a 2012 MS3 and with 2300 miles on it, I too am seeing the inside shoulder wear. I'm going to have my mechanic do an alignment check on it to see where its at.

I also have noticed that the Dunlops loose air faster than other tires I've had.

I'll post back when I get the alignment checked this week.
