Default Verizon cell phone charger

Please don't use a Verizon cell phone chagers in new 2010 Mazdas they get stuck. Mazda knows this and is trying to fix. Maybe going to be a TSB. At least that is what service tech says . Two were in the same day I had my oil changed and they took half hour to get mine out.

It's not just the verizon charger. I've had three get nearly stuck in ours, all different models.

Interesting, i have my radar detector and gps plugged into a splitter that sits in my glove box and ive removed it several times with no problems...as for the arm rest one, ive plugged in and unplugged devices into it a lot without ever having an issue.

We just had this issue and got some more information.

It's my wife's car, 2009 Mazda 5 that we bought in September 2009. The phone is a LG Chocolate Touch that she bought last week. First time in the charger - stuck. I'd like to complain to Verizon about this. We went to the Verizon store in Union, NJ, and the store manager, David Rivera, said he had never heard of this before. He said their insurance didn't cover them to look at a charger in a car, so he couldn't help us. Told us to call a mechanic. I asked if he'd refund the charger if it was destroyed. He said yes. I asked if he'd pay the cost to remove the charger, and he said they had to look at it first.

I called the Mazda dealer in Union, NJ. Really helpful, said I was about the 15th or 20th call. Took it over there. He called his other technician. They pulled the entire charger power socket unit out pretty easily. Then together, I think using a screwdrivier, they removed the charger from the cigarette lighter. They showed me that the clips were too big. They, like others reported here, said that Mazda has not issued a bulletin. However, they shared a 2000 bulletin about the size. They said it is only a problem with newer Mazdas. He said that he bought a charger from the local convenience store instead.

we then took the charger back to Verizon and returned it, and then bought one from Wal-Mart.

I guess Verizon's "it's not my problem," attitude really got to me. I think Mazda's tolerances may have been more forgiving before, but now they are not.

my wife used to have a 02 protege, tomtom's plug would go in, and when we got home, the entire sleeve and housing would come out. NOT cool.

Ha! Figured I was the only one. Mine got stuck (Droid) and I was furious so I tore the charger apart bit by bit then called Verizon and bitched. They sent me a replacement charger for free, but now I'm skeptical to ever use it. I barely use it, I've used the new one maybe 3 times.

Same problem here, I have a 2010 Mazda3 GT sedan and my Blackberry charger "from Verizon" got stuck in the front charger. I took it to my dealer where I told them that its stuck and they blamed the charger..... however I came from a Lexus IS 350 using the SAME charger with no problems.... ultimately they had to remove the whole part and destroyed it in the process and I had to wait for them to order a replacement part. It has to be the chraging port.....

Its a poor design on mazda's part. in no way shape or form should there be an open section of the socket where multiple styles of plugs can get stuck. basic design is 2 or 4 prong. the last thing mazda should do is blame the aftermarket companies on this subject... otherwise make a plug that would work themselves. charger styles haven't changed in ten years so why has mazda
