You wouldn't regret it. This thing is truly awesome. The GUI looks a lot better than a lot of the other ones I've looked at, and the overall look of this head unit looks more OEM than others in my opinion.

I think all these Chinese no-name are basically the same though, it's mostly a matter of which style you like.

If anyone has any questions I'd gladly answer them

YouTube - Mazda 3 2010+ head unit by QualiR from autodvdgps.com (QL-MZD313)

Rear view camera only cost $20, but the picture quality isn't that great, only good enough to let you know what's around you. Night vision works amazingly well too. I definatly think it was worth the money.

As for installation. It's VERY simple, just pop out the original unit, and plug in the new one. Rear view camera was a little bit more trouble, but not as hard as I thought it would be. Mind you, I probably didn't do it the "right" way. There is enough space above the license plate (where the camera is mounted) that I can fit the wires through. The hardest part was having to strip the hatch apart and pull out the weather stripping to get the wires inside. I also had to splice the video cable to fit it through the stripping.

Steering wheel controls work great, just as they did before.

Sound quality seems better than it was with the stock imo. It also has an EQ with different presets, which is a huge plus. And you can control the volume of each function seperatly (radio, navigation, TV, DVD, bluetooth, etc.)
That navi system looks so cool. Just curious, were you able to retain all the original mazda3 controls of the bluetooth, tracking, volume controls, & etc on the steeling wheel with this new navi system? CAn you post some pictures of the navi maps? Talked to the vendor before and they said, the navi does not come with any maps, you have to buy it? I assume this navi does not have text-to-speech?

I don't have bluetooth controls on my steering wheel, but I have heard that they wont work with any aftermarket head units due to the BT function of the car being separate from the factory head unit. I do have volume, track skipping, and mute... all of those work fine. But when you're in the navigation screen, the track buttons (for the igo8 software anyway) turn to destination info (time/distance left, avg speed, etc.) by pushing up, and pushing down goes back to the map screen.

Unfortunately, it doesn't come with any maps. But all you have to do is load any GPS software that will work with Windows CE/Windows mobile onto a microsd card. I'm running igo8 right now and the software only takes up less than 150mb, so you don't need a big storage card. You can also buy a preloaded card from autodvdgps.com for just $15 if you don't happen to have a microsd card laying around.

As for text to speech, I'm not really sure. I don't think igo8 has it, but some other software might. I just have all the sound muted so it doesn't mess with the music.

Here's a pic I snapped of the GPS yesterday

The biggest difference is that one is made specifically for Mazda 3's with the Bose package (the one that's on sale for $410), while the other two are for non-bose M3's.

Made for bose
2010 Mazda 3 replacement radio unit - Mazda 3 sat nav - Mazda 3 update unit

Non-bose (mine)
2010 Mazda 3 DVD - 2010 Mazda 3 GPS - 2010 Mazda 3 Navigation - 2010 Mazda 3 multimedia system

Another non-bose HU
Mazda 3 Indash Stereo - Mazda 3 Car GPS System - HD Touchscreen DVBT for Mazda 3

In my opinion, the other non-bose HU is ugly as sin. Both the look of the unit, and GUI are horrible. That said, it does have iPod support, and so does the Bose one.

That's actually one of the three issues I've had with it.

- Back-lit buttons are always on regardless of headlight switch
- Steering wheel volume lags when running music and gps at the same time (volume knob still works as it should)
- Aux input does nothing

The head unit does have yellow/red/white RCA AUX inputs on the back though. I plan to run A/V cables to the console since I sometimes use that input too. But I usually use BT on my phone to play music so it's not a huge deal to me.

That should actually work out even better. Assuming that the iPod will show up on the screen.
