Front Grill Color

This might be a really stupid question, but here it goes. I have a 2010 madza 3 hatchback in white. I'm still having trouble getting used to the front grill/smile.

Wouldn't it look 100 times better if I took the black grill off and painted it the same color as my car? Has anyone done this?

Your thoughts?

I thought the "happy face" would bother me too. And it sort of did in the very beginning, but I like it now. When I see 09 and older models, they look strange to me now...haha

could be a good idea but think about parts behind the grille (radiator, ...) they could be seen anyway so the smiley too, less but present. but if you don't like the smiley it'll looks better. i'll try to draw it 4 you and will post it tomorrow (friday night) if i've time enough

i wish I was better in photoshop. I would want to see a photo first. The problem for me on the front is the contrast between the white and black plastic. It's too dark and too big. Here is a hint of what it would look like. This is just a quick paint photo.

Is anyone good in photoshop?

I think it would look better with just the upper trim piece painted in body color.

It kind of reminds me of a Saturn though, lol.

Exclamation Painted smile

I have an idea , i think the 2010 is a little too 'smiley' also, it takes whatever bad-boy image/sneer the '3 ' had and makes it a little too friendly, but i guess i'll get used to it.
" what if you just painted the upper corners of the smile-grill? You know, to sort of 'draw down' the edges? You could do it in white, or possibly a light grey/silver?
I'm talking just the upper edges, an inch or so.

But it does look better. Maybe change it from body colored to chrome. It'll be a smiley face with a retainer!

I'm not against chrome, but there isn't much of it on the car. It might look a little out of place. I think body color is the way to go.

I'm slowly getting used to the smiley face too, but think I'd like the front trim painted the body color also.

You know, I've never been a big fan of front nose masks, but the one for the 2010 covers up most of the non-functional parts of the grille and actually looks a little better, I think. Certainly on the black Mazda where there's less contrast.

I think it depends on the color of the car too! Like with my BLACK 3s it looks good as is with my car IT LOOKS EVEN BETTER with my repainted rims ^_^ but cars like that with the white I say HELLA YEA! It would look alot nicer painted with the color of the car thats just IMO!
