Same issue

I also have had this happen three times since the eve of Xmas day. The intermittent nature of the problem is truly aggravating! When I discuss with a Mazda service adviser they said unless it is reproducible it would be difficult to determine, obvious response. Was anyone else having this issue had more favorable results?

Per isteal original post .
I have a 2013 Mazda 3-5. 21000+ miles. Do lots of freeway driving. Have had the cruise control act just as described twice. All other times it arms (amber) and engages (green) as expected. When engaged, it works perfectly.
Will be off to the dealer for resolution soon.

I've had the same issue also, which started about 1 month ago, otherwise it's worked fine since I bought the car around 1 1/2 years ago.

As some of the other posters have said, turn off car, turn back on, it works again.

Thumbs down 2012 Mazda3 Cruise Control Works Sometimes

My 2012 Mazda3 cruise control works sometimes. Other times, it won't engage at all. Then I turn off the car at a stop light and then turn it back on and the cruise control seems to work. It is kind of like Microsoft - just reboot! This is not very convenient with a car. Does anyone of a resolution?

I also had this problem, but only one time so far. 2012 3GT 4-dr with about 75k miles. I do a lot of highway and use the cruise quite often. It was really cold out (15 deg F or so) and I thought it just had to do with that. After shutting off car and restarting, it worked and never had the issue since. Huh.

My 2012 sky hatch started having this issue about 6 months ago. It would happen maybe once a month but started occurring more frequently. Now, it happens almost daily after the first start in the AM. It is really frustrating in this car because if you turn the ignition off and back on at speed (car is manual) the electric power steering goes awry. Having to stop is really inconvenient but so is not having CC on a 50+ mile highway drive.

Garage
I read on another mazda forum the cruise acting up in this manner could be the symptom of a failing battery. I would suggest anyone with this issue before trying anything drastic, running off to the stealer or spending any money simply disconnect your battery for a few minutes (10-15 is usually good) and then reconnect and then take the car and have the battery tested. you maybe surprised and find you have a bad battery, and a battery can be failing and "bad" before it wont crank the car. if it wont charge up like normal its is going bad, if the sides are swelling, its bad, if it takes longer then normal to crank, battery could be going bad (could be starter or wires/relay too, but wont get into that here) if your battery tests fine wait and see if the cruise acts up again, if not then it just needed a reset, if it does further diagnostics are needed these cars, like many today have overly complicated electrical systems and its not always easy to pin down problems like these to any one thing
