Cracked Passenger Dash and Known TSB 09-038/12

I haven't been on here for quite some time. Because honestly I have not had too many issues to report and nothing really modded on the car. I have the second gear syncro shenanigans. I have the squeeky moving seat. Both extremely covered on the forums.

But now I have the worst cosmetic problem ever and an extreme eye sore. The Mazda Cracked Dash! And worse it started happening when I returned to PA from Florida, the cold weather came in, and I had just gone over the 60K Bumper to Bumper.

Here is a link to a video I made and posted on youtube. I also created a facebook page. I want to get everyone together that has this issue on facebook. Once the number of people subscribed gets large enough; I'll start working towards some class action suit or case.

I really hope you don't have to deal with this...but I am sure most of us will. And its a shame because I love the car; but this is unacceptable on such a new car and low miles.

You quote the TSB, but did you actually take it in? I become bored with reading and closed the video.

The dash looks pretty abused. What are you doing? Using it as a foot rest with shoes on?

Still shouldn't crack that way though.

I took it to two dealers and contacted Mazda Corporate, but not anyone of influence at Mazda Corporate. TSB's just show there is a problem, not a recall obviously. Neither service manager even wanted to look at the car. They first asked mileage and then said no trim is covered.

I explained what was going on but neither service managers even flinched.

It's the first of heard of this happening to anyone. It gets a crap load colder up here in canada, and I have no cracks. Might want to just get a replacement at a junk yard and call it a day.

Dog hair from my huskies.

Bought the car in Florida, so it saw plenty of heat. Moved back to Pennsylvania and the first few cold nights it started and then just kept getting worse. My case I would hope is worse case scenario. Even here in Philadelphia we get some hot dash and in-car temps during summer months; 100 plus degree days this past summer. Hell this past summer it was actually cooler living on the Florida Atlantic Coast.

God bless you up there, I like Canada but that damn cold can be overwhelming some days.

I am pretty sure my cases is from the hot summer months and very cold winters. Florida and PA Summer dash expanding and the winter contracting.

I want to be able to help anybody else that has this happen. Ultimately, I may go that course for a junk yard dash if one is available.

That rubber should just peel up. Shouldn't be hard to remove and replace. I totally understand this happening. The dash color is way to dark and gets way to hot. It's the reason people mid's keep burning out . The dash gets super heated in the summer. Not a smart choice on Mazda's part.

In all honesty, they rarely do anything. In some instances, when the case is well written and the sheer number of those filing is extremely large....settlements happen and or an agreed amount is distributed back to vehicle owners, both effected and assumed to be effected by the suit claims.

There are other methods as well such as BBB, NHTSA since this is airbag related. But anything needs to be done as a group of affected with a common complaint/claim. We all signed contracts at buyers guide and warranty statements. So Mazda would go immediately to those contracts. But that's why BBB and Lemon law exists to protect consumers.

I work in the industry and there are actually some different options that can be taken, but again, affected or possible affected need to cooperate in a joint case/claim/filing.
