What Code Scanner?

What OBDII code scanner are you guys using on these cars? Something that can check ABS and SRS codes would be nice as well. It doesn't seem as though just any old scanner works on these cars.

Thanks for the replies. I like that Actron, not extremely cheap but that's fine. I really don't need something mounted in the car so a handheld would be fine.

That Actron does communicate with the ABS system on the Mazda though?

Thanks for the reply. Did you wind up getting any of those things suggested? If so, how do you like it?

I've got multiple VW's as well and I have a V-Checker Pro handheld scanner that can check everything on the chassis of a VW. It's nothing like the Ross-Tech but it has done what I've needed over the passed 12 years of dealing with VW vehicles. I was hoping to find something like that for my Mazda but it seems to be a rare breed as far as code scanners go. I was hoping I could get something that I could share with my 2010 Dodge Ram but I don't think that's going to happen.

I did not try the ross-tech on the mazda yet. Was hoping to sell it and recouped some $. Right now I have MazdaEdit as part of the OVTUNE purchase that I'm not sure what that's going to give me.

I swear, these really really smart people the software programs don't know crap about UI design. So difficult to figure out.

I have actually never had an ABS code to try lol. Though it did work on my sisters older 626 abs awhile back and told us which wheel speed sensor had failed, that's the only abs code I have ever scanned with it. I mainly use it to clear cel's from me trying stupid things or seafoaming the car (sometimes it will throw a vac leak code if your doing it too long) or if I get a cel I can know where to look. I think on most of the newer cars it will read all the abs stuff. I know the cp9580 my old work had for awhile (before autozone went to innova and made us cut the cord off and chunk the perfectly good $230 actron scanner we had, I tried to save it) that one would read every module in my 08 it could tell you how many times it had been cranked saw abs, srs, and every module the computer had access to. I could get readings off the abs sensors in its live data, see if the srs was active, it could tell the system voltage, it had A TON of stuff for a $230 code scanner, I think most of the mid-top level actron stuff will read every module our computer talks to. if your interested in the Actron, maybe call them and have your vin (just in case) and year make and model ready and they should be to tell you if a certain model scanner they sell will read everything it shows it can on the web/package on our cars

this is the one my autozone had til they made us break it and throw it out original msrp $230-250:https://i.ytimg.com/vi/K_tVZ-gLebA/hqdefault.jpg

this is the one I have its original msrp was $100: http://www.elec-intro.com/EX/05-15-11/416HF9S5A2L.jpg
