All pref. Hands down the sedan for me. Don't like the look of any hatchbacks. Would have gotten the speed3 if it came in sedan version

hatchback ftw why not? in a mazda anyways you get the sportier suspension, bigger engine (most years, newer ones have choices), usually bigger list of features, more storage space, or more room for a big sub and a trunk like my 08 3 had, new job that I have to keep computer peripherals and cables in the hatch and the fact the bose system in the 11 hatch sounds fine are why I did not transfer the sound system to the 11, that and I feel I am kinda growing out of that "my car's louder than shit and deafens everyone in 3 block radius" phase that and systems are too expensive to put in, then you always want more, so you tune it constantly, or buy a new piece and waste time and money or break something, so the adult in me realized that paying an exuberant amount to rerun all the crap around the bose to get more DBs is not worth it in the end. anyways and the sedans 10-13 are plain and ugly on the rear stock, the front says sporty compact the back says I look like they did not finish the thought and went to lunch. the04-09s I like sedans and hatches 10-13 hatch is big time preferred (as seen with my 11 hatch) 14+ either way again, and at first hated the hatch but it grew on me and I went and sat in one the other day and it really grew on me

I have a 2011 GT Sedan but I wouldnt of mind getting a hatch since there seems to be more mods for the hatch.
Are there any cool JDM sedans? I need some inspiration to make my sedan a little different.

The "Kodo" design language works best on the sedans. The reason being that the long schnoz and long front overhang makes the hatchback look unbalanced in comparison to the sedan's better flow.

But, sedans in this class are a dime a dozen in North America, and the new Civic is an extremely competitive car. You have far less options when it comes to hatchbacks, and the Civic hatchback would have been a contender if it had as good an interior and didn't look like a 5 year old designed the exterior. Which is why I personally think the Mazda 3 hatch is king.

Have to agree with Sir Duckferd here. the 14+ hatch does seem slightly unbalanced as he said the long front end and stubby rear make the proportions seem off, at first I hated the 14+ hatches but after they got a few years on them and I saw more and more I decided to sit in and test drive one and the interior is great (other then my one big complaint) and not only mazda does it, bmw does too the radio screen now looks like a tablet glued on the dash board and ruins the lines of the dash, if the radio screen could drop in the dah or be removed and reattached by the end user while parked that would make it just fine. that and that now means aftermarket radios are pain because you have to remote mount them and there is no din slot for a radio anymore! Like I said above the 1st gen 04-09s I like the sedans and hatches but prefer the hatch (just prefer a small car this size to be a hatchback) more useful and in mazda more options, bigger engine is more available, sportier suspension and bigger storage area plus the 07-13 speed 3 hatch who would turn that down? the 10-13 2nd gens the sedan is butt ugly in the butt (back) the front says hey im a nice sporty sedan the back says we forgot we where making a sporty sedan and just made it plain and boring. The 14+ the hatch had to grow on me and I still prefer the sedan proportions better but the hatch grew on me. Now in a midsized car you have to get wagons and most that are left are ugly or Volvos and who really wants a Volvo wagon? Volvo suv and sporty coupes and sedans are ok but their wagons are just meh. you get a volvo wagon it says your rich but don't have any style, or your boring to be around.

That's probably why I like the hatch so much I'm slightly unbalanced, too.

Yeah me too. wouldn't be fun otherwise. those whom never had a hatchback don't understand the lifestyle, this thread paints the picture of the forum, many who prefer customizations go on forums, and many who prefer customizations in the mazda world get hatchbacks the votes reflect this well. but in the whole scope of all mazda 3's sold its only like 30% that are hatchbacks and I feel it should be at least 50/50 if not more hatchbacks. if I go bigger then compact (mazda 3 size) then sedan or coupe for me because most wagons are slow and/or ugly or dodge condoms (aka magnums) Like I almost got a speed 6 and would have had it not had 7 previous owners and needed some oil leaks fixed, they wanted too much for what its history showed. but mazda needs to get the turbo skyactiv 2.5 in a 3 and make a hot hatch with 250-300 or more hp and torque and they would have a serious contender like ford focus rs/st, Subaru impreza(sedan, unfortunately they dropped hatchback wrx and sti) and civic type r hatch, we hot hatch fans neeeeeeeeeeed morrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! lol. or at least a coupe 3 and/or 6 with it in there.
