Question Gen 1 Speed3 Koni Yellows on a Gen 2 mz3 Sky: Will it fit?

Hi guys. I have been looking around Craigslist and ebay for a while trying to get a set of cheap performance shocks and lowering springs. One set of used Koni Yellows popped up recently, but they are for a first gen Mazdaspeed3; I have a second gen Skyactiv Mazda3. Based on some searching I have gotten mixed results as to whether or not they would fit. Some saying that gen 1 Speed3 shocks won't fit at all, and some saying that the gen 1 uses a longer bolt than the gen 2 for the lower shock bushing (if this is the case, I would like to know the bolt size I should get, and where online I could get these bolts). Thanks in advance everyone!

(P.S. if anyone has lowering springs (preferably tein s-techs or eibach sportlines) or a good set of shocks for sale, feel more than free to hit me up )

Wanted an FR-S, ended up with a Mazda3.

Many coilover systems are the same for 2004-2013 MZ3s so I would assume they should be interchangable between 1st and 2nd generations. The KONIs are most likely valved for stiffer (aftermarket) springs because they were meant for a MS3 so you should take that into consideration when looking for lowering springs.

As for the bolt, If you do a search on here or google you should be able to get a part number. Alternatively, look for the differences in part numbers using exploded suspension diagrams on any OE mazda parts website.

I replied to TWO separate ads (from different sellers) for these shocks and no one has replied. I may just get a set of koni str's and tein s-techs... Thanks so much for the info though!

Update! Just installed the 1st gen speed3 koni's in my skyactiv sedan and they fit perfectly! (with the longer lower shock mount bolt, see images). Paired them with some tein s tech's (technically for the 2nd gen 2.5 hatch, but they worked great). Have the rears turned a 1/4 up from full soft and the front turned 1/3 from full soft. With this setup the car rides great! Very much like stock, but slightly firmer going over dips. So happy with the result! Definitely a recommended setup for daily driving.
