| My car has 100 miles on it and I am noticing a similar rattle. I can't figure it out, but it sounds like its from the upper dash.

| I've had my car since mid-may, about 4200 miles on it, and I just noticed it this week! If it was new, I would have asked to get it looked at. I'm just too busy at work this week to get to the dealership, and I thought someone might have been there already, but it seems like no one has.

A good technique for dash rattles is to drive with a friend. Have them push forward on the dash hard at various places and see if the rattle stops. You can pick a particularly nasty stretch of road to drive back and forth over to find them. We had a 1989 Camero that was had horrible quality. I had the dash apart no less than 12 times in a couple of years fixing rattles. Hate them, and the dealer often won't cover them under warranty. Good luck.

A strange squeak/rattle started happening today in my car. Last night it was fine, this morning, the squeak was there. It only happens when going over bumps, and it sounds like it's coming from the driver's side dash area. It also sounds like it could be coming from the windshield seal on the drivers side, but I can't pinpoint it exactly. It's been cold here ever since I got the car about 2 weeks ago, so perhaps a seal or a piece of plastic has shrunk from the cold, and now there's a squeaky rattle sound? By cold I mean sub-freezing temperatures in New England. I found a bunch of posts about Speed3's and the windshield cowling rattling against the glass, but I'm not sure if the same could apply to a 4 door sedan Mazda3. It only has 800 miles on it, so this is really driveing me nuts, and it's only been happening for 1 day! | |||||||||||||||||

I've just noticed the same noise recently. My M3 has a little of 3000K on it. It definitely is more pronounced when I first get in the car and go over bumps when it's cold. Once I have the heat going for a while the noise aren't that noticeable.
