Remove CD player
I've got an iGT with the CD player. I'd like to remove the CD player, and I wonder if there's a small compartment or something that I could put in it's place. I saw on the specs that there Canadian versions of the base model that don't have a CD player. Anyone know what's in that spot? Thanks!
Maybe try your dealer as then they can get a part number for you and even order it.
The base model (iSV) lacks a CD player as well, and they put the power and USB ports there instead of in the center console.
I'm curious how to remove the CD player anyway so I can run some wires underneath it.
EDIT: I found in the service manual, you need 2 removal keys that fit into the slots on the bottom part of the CD player. The part number of the keys is "49 B066 803". With those, the CD player just slides out, unplug the connector, and you're done.
The trick is finding those keys. I found a site in Germany that has them: http://www.werner-weitner.com/index....7-59-34-detail
I didn't find any on eBay either. I don't know if any of the "universal" ones will work. They look similar to the ones for VW/Audi radios.
What page in the manual?
Yea I was kind of surprised they had a cd player. I mean who uses CD's anymore. Would nice if there was something that could be put in its place that could be functional.
I guess that is why they buried it way down on the bottom by the shifter and made it difficult to access anyways .
Maybe try to replace with DVD player, with DVD/DivX/MKV etc support :sorcerer:
I've seen in the service screen "DVD".. but I've never heard of a 2014 Mazda with a DVD player.
yes.. some models did have the USB port there.
as for the tool.. I made mine out of an old chevy starter shim (cut in half lengthwise..and shaped like the tool mentioned above.
popped the CD player out with no issues..and cost me about $1
lboyle, can you provide pictures and link where we can get the shim? Thanks.
I have a base model (auto) ..... It has a CD player. No Canadian model comes without one so so I'm not sure where where you heard that
