OEM aerokit front air dam gap

I just got the aerokit installed on my 2017 Mazda 3 at my dealer.
I found out for the front air dam, on the very left side there is a gap between the kit and the bumper, while on the right side, it sticks perfectly. I wonder if its normal? And what tapes i can use to stick it?

I am sorry @patrickchenfly that you have experienced this problem. First option, since you paid for its install, is to take it back to the dealer and politely ask them to fix it. That is what I would do.

However, here is some questions and info that you may want to have in your hip pocket before you got back.

Having just installed my front OEM air dam last week, and I sorry but your issue is not normal (fit perfectly on my car in the front). My best guess is that they did not drill the holes properly on the one side where there is a gap, and to check to see if this is the cause, check carefully its height compared to the other side of your car (how far up it goes on the front fascia, or conversely, measure the distance down from the fog lights or similar).

Reason I mention this as a possibility, is that for my rear OEM lower AP piece, the template was wrong for the two center extreme holes (three of us checked this out and all three came to that conclusion, specifically that the two center holes (closest to its top edge) were close to 1" too low on the factory fascia. Re-drilled the holes higher and it now fits perfectly. [Thankfully the two, now-extra, center holes are totally covered.]. However, my front paper template was perfect, as again, is its fit.

Of course, whether the template was properly placed onto your extreme left side, or slid down before the holes were drilled, are other possible causes.

Best of luck, and if you are looking for the best tape and want to only pursue that solution, below is the right stuff. I used this exact product to put my rear roof spoiler on my WRX (no bolts, and it has been there now for a year and remains totally secure).

I should have earlier asked, how big a gap on one side? if 1/8" or less and the gap be closed with two-sided tape (and stay closed), I personally could live it it.

But I am still left with the thought "how can one side fit fine and the other one not, and the dealer still say "it's normal" (if it is a gap larger than 1/8" and/or can not be permanently closed with two-sided tape).

I think there was a gap issue when a 2014-16 splitter was put on a 2017. The front end is not the same, including the bumper. Mine is pretty flush.

Road Trip and audiochrizrockz like this.

2017 Mazda 3 GT Hatch

Snowflake White Pearl Mica
5 pc. Aero Kit
Side Window Deflectors
Bumperguard/Doorsil Guard
Cargo Tray & Net
JBR Filter
Tint
Debadged in favor of AXELA/GT
Evil M (back & front)
Gun Metal Gray Powder Coat Rims
Michelin Pilot Sport AS3

That's a good point @BearlyHere , for if a '16 front air dam was put on a '17, clearly a major mistake, and it will not work.
