There logo has been on the apple Carplay site for a while too. We will have to wait and see what that translates into for our cars.

"Note: Android Auto is available for newly purchased vehicles, and may be offered as a standard feature or optional feature. Availability is subject to change and may vary based on geography and trim level."

So according to the statement, there won't be an option for previous owners to get the system on there cars , as it will be available for NEWLY PURCHASED VEHICLES (Thank you captain obvious lol ). Hence, Hacking" looks like the only solution to get Android Auto in our cars. (An option already available)

Just imagine how many millions of customers would like to have this option in there cars if the system would be given as a free upgrade to previous owners, it would be crazy...

I just purchased a CX3 two weeks ago, and while discussing the infotainment system with the dealer she mentioned that Mazda is no longer planning on baking Android Car or CarPlay into the infotainment system. I really hope she is wrong, but I wouldn't be shocked if this was true, with Mazda's silence on the matter for quite some time now.

The Android Auto website uses the same blurb for every manufacturer ('only available for newly purchased vehicles' etc.) so may not tell us much about Mazda's intentions specifically.

In any case, what is a "newly purchased vehicle"? Is a car brought in the past year "newly purchased"? Some would say yes so it is unclear as to whether some existing owners may get the functionality ...

I would say there is a good chance existing MY17 owners could get it; less sure on pre-facelift cars though.

From this page

Review: 2017 Mazda 2 1.5V+ | CarGuide.PH - Philippine Car News, Car Reviews, Car Features, Car Buyer's Guide and Car Prices.

An even bigger piece of news is that the MZD Connect will be upgraded real soon (as in this month) to accommodate Android Auto (sorry iPhone users).

Hope this is true

Interesting. I did reach out to Mazda earlier this week to see if I could become an official tester for them. Their response was to watch the website (Mazda USA in my case) as their team has made significant headway and there would be some sort of announcement soon. I would love if it did come within the month as I have a road trip at the end of June that I'd love to have AA for.
