Need help selecting new speakers (non-bose)

Hi,

I've managed to confuse myself around all the bose/non-bose component/composite/crossover jargon and could use your help.

I have a 2016 3 with the 6 speaker non-bose system.

I'm looking to do a relatively easy upgrade - meaning no new amp, and preferably no crossovers.
Would like to replace the front speakers and tweeters only - switch out the old for the new.

That being said do you have any speaker recommendations? component or composite?
I'd like to stay under $200 for all 4 speakers, but its not a hard limit.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what fits your car, but I had some JBL GTO series 3-way speakers in a previous car and I liked them a lot. Well built, heavy magnets, good sound, and they didn't degrade from heat/sun/UV in Florida for several years. I think the GTOs are usually a bit more expensive than other stuff, but I found them for an excellent price as an open box deal from Amazon Warehouse. The box had a dent but the speakers were still brand new.

Prior to those I had some Sony speakers. They sounded OK but they weren't as well made. The Florida sun killed them after a few years. The surrounds separated from the cones and they started buzzing at moderate volume.

You may want to check Crutchfield since they always include custom mounting brackets so you don't have to do additional fabrication or fitting.

Thanks, though that's not exactly the info I was looking for.

It would help to know what type of speakers I should be looking for? I know the fronts are 6.5", and I reckon the tweeters are a standard size?

which type of speakers should I get so they'd be a drop-in replacement?

I got Focal PS 165v1 components, love them but you are going to need to power them. I also went ahead and got a DSP to get the best out of the set.

The 6.5" driver is a complete molding and mount, need to hack the original speaker out of it to screw a replacement in.

I have JL audio in mine but I made new mounts, Ive also got additional amps and a processor.

Curious as to the benefit of replacing the speakers without adding a processor or an amp, will there even be any improvement?
