For those who have the infotainment unit, I wonder what you keep on the screen most of the time while you drive. I've put the major options down. If you have something else up, what is it?
In the car I mostly listen to audiobooks using an MP3 player and the AUX input. Since the AUX input does not provide any information on the screen, I usually show the NAV (but with no destination, so it doesn't mess with the speakers).
Annoyances (I am on V27):
1. I have to suppress the NAV menu bar every time I start the car. System should remember this setting.
2. I would often select a destination, but do not like the lack of total muting (even on V31 this does not seem completely solved, it seems).
I play music through a usb stick, and I generally leave it on the audio tab so I can see what the name of each song playing is. Sometimes I leave it on the nav screen though because 1) it's my first car with navigation 2) occasionally I really do need to know what streets are coming up/where I'm at.
I usually turn the screen off unless I am using Nav or if I have a passenger in the car. I do wish that when you change radio stations, the station will appear at the top no matter what screen is on or off. It does this with Nav/Street names, it should do this for radio too.
When I posted this question, I expected music as number 1 and nav as 2. I'm a bit surprised at the number of people who obsess about fuel economy, however. But this is an economy car with very good mpg so I probably shouldn't have been surprised.
I mostly have music screen on but when I have the fuel economy app on I get paranoid when I see the number going down lol I only take a peek once in a while
70% Nav and 30% music. Like lowincash, I obsess too much when it's on the fuel economy screen. LOL It pops up when I shut the car off, that's good enough for me.
I usually put it on the fuel economy screen, then hit the music shortcut button. That way i can see what music or radio station i'm listening to, and i can check fuel economy with one press of the back button.
This has been a great poll. I expected music 1 and nav 2. I guess I was a little surprised at the 3 to 1 margin. I suppose I shouldn't be, if you already know where you're going there's no real need for the nav screen without some sort of traffic data.
I usually turn the screen off- and I wish it would stay off; I don't need a numeric display of the volume, nor street signs.
Sometimes in urban areas I will leave it on the fuel consumption monitor to see the state of the i-Eloop charge and see if I can coast so it will charge.
So far it's mostly the music screen. But I use the fuel economy monitor more than I thought I would. I expect that novelty to wear off eventually. At times though it is a little like a new addictive video game. I get pissy when the bars drop and try to improve on the next increment. If nothing else it does have me paying attention a little more to my driving style. I’ve used the nav twice to actually go somewhere but I see no need to leave it up in everyday driving. Generally, I know what street I’m on and where I am.
I usually leave the Nav screen on. The speed limit turning red in the corner of your eye while speeding is a good help when driving. I keep the instant MPG on the info part of the cluster and let the fuel app give me the summary once I've arrived and turn off the car. It's all so wonderfully intuitive.
Having the speed limit displayed is one of my favorite features (and turning red when you're speeding is a nice touch). I used to always be asking my wife if she knew what the speed limit was.
I found the feul economy app and have it running. Are there apps other than the ones already in the list? If so, where does one find them and how are they installed?
Have I missed a hidden shortcut for turning off the infotainment screen? That seems to be missing for me, I'd rather an easy button for turning it off or dimming it. Now that we're going into winter with more dark driving I'm wishing for that option to be simpler than going through the setting screen.
Otherwise around home it's always the music screen. On a longer trip, probably still music if listening to Pandora. Enjoyed the non-nav compass screen from time to time.
Meanwhile on a long drive I'll probably also have Waze up on my phone.
Heh. Thanks. I never thought to go through the voice commands. Once or twice I thought maybe I should look up the things I can do by voice command, but mostly I have been content to not talk to the car. ;-)
