What model/year did you own before you got your new 2017? I am not sure if the horn was changed in 2017, but the one on my 2016 3 is a joke; I am actually embarrassed to to use it. LOL

I find my new 2017 Mazda 3 (18" wheels) too noisy on rough tarmac so I dread to think what the previous version was like. Mazda have implemented some clever technology in their car design but refinement is obviously not one of their priorities.

I was going to say nothing, but after seeing something about the horn I have to say that. Almost makes me want to buy an obnoxious Hella Supertone.

I guess I don't use my horn enough to notice or care.

When someone starts squeezing you out of your lane at 70 mph, you'll notice the lack of attention your horn demands.

I don't think anyone is going to decide whether to acknowledge a horn or not based on its sound or dB level. The few times I have used my horn I can tell the other driver acknowledged my presence based on their reaction to it. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I don't sweat these things.

100% agree with you.... The hatchback has that vibe that it will go 0 to 60 in 5 seconds but sadly it doesn't but then again it handles like a monster
