I know there is plenty of talk about version 55 in several other topics but I wanted to create this thread to discuss any bugs, glitches, issues or anything similar that you have encountered in version 55 (both 650A or 750B).

If the problem you are having is USB or Bluetooth based, can you please post the make, model, and OS version (if applicable) of your device.

For myself, I was on v33, then went to v55 (650A), and am now on v55 (750B).

On v55 650A:
- I don't use navigation often, but one time when I did, whenever the system was providing voice instructions, the voice would stutter/break up.

On v55 750A:
- The Active Driving Display (HUD) doesn't display navigation information on it when using navigation
- After starting up my car and on the navigation screen, the screen doesn't display or attempt to find my current location but instead shows my saved home location until I start moving in my vehicle at which point it will find my location.

On both v55 650A and 750A:
- I currently have a 32 GB USB drive and 2 GB drive (both with MP3 files) plugged into each USB port. I noticed that the album artwork doesn't always display (or display as quickly) as it did in the past when I was on v33 running Gracenote Database 5.00. However, I will say that both USB drives seem to have been doing great in regards to remembering where I left off since upgrading to both v55 650A and 750A. I'd gladly take the USB devices remembering where to resume than seeing album artwork.

My USB is doing great remembering where it left off. I updated mine the day it was available and it has forgotten and started over about 4 times I think. Much better than a few times a week.

My only issue, is that I no longer get the notification when I get a text anymore, I only get the little envelope at the top, which I don't always notice.

I don't think it remembers what screen you were on anymore. I'm on the latest build (750B) and every time you start up the car, you're thrown back to the homescreen--something that I'm fairly certain wasn't happening until v55.

Example:

I'm listening to music, and viewing the "Music" app. I turn off my car; I come back to my car hours later; upon starting up the car, instead of viewing the Music app, I'm at the home page.

I'm on 55.00.750B, upgraded straight from v31. The only this I've noticed are that the steering wheel forward/back button has a longer lag when scrolling through favorites and sometimes the HD Radio Traffic loads a completely blank grey screen rather than a partial tile load.

On the upside of the steering wheel scroll button delay, multiple taps are registered more accurately than before.

Could you share 55.00.750A?

V55.00.650B - Reboots, Stuttering Voice Navigation and I find that I have to turn up the volume higher then I did before (and yes, the volume on my phone is turned up all the way). I don't ever think Mazda will get this working as it should. I've owned my 2014 now for almost 2 years, I started with V20......I've lost count on the # of updates.

Thanks for that. I wonder if they knew it themselves or they had to learn from a customer.

This contract-out work on this particular component has been a giant fail so far, IMHO. (I work in software development. JCI does not know what "ready to release" looks like, it seems.)

I went from v33 to v55.750B, DIY install thanks to this site :smile2:

Overall, I'm finding USB music plays much better with this version. On v33, I had that annoying issue where about 3 times out of 5, it would "forget" the last song I had playing, and play the first song/folder burned on the USB instead. The v55.750B still does that once in a while, maybe once out of 100 times.

The only new glitch I noticed with v55.750B is the navigation info that used to display on the HUD doesn't show up anymore.

Edit: Just found a 2nd glitch (undocumented feature?) of v55.750B. When using the steering wheel control to switch between pre-set stations, when it reaches the last stored station in the source I had selected (say, FM), it will switch to the next source (i.e., XM) and start switching among those stations. Before with v33, it just stayed within the source selected (e.g., XM or FM or AM) when switching stations - when it reached the end of the list it just started over.

I just got the new upgrade (my mistake) and I have the same problem with the favorites switch from XM radio to FM radio favorites. Contacted Mazda and they say they're unaware of the bug. I have checked other Mazda forums and have seen mention of this bug, so I have saved them and I will be calling Mazda again and pointing out that they should be aware of it.

I've noticed for the past few firmware revisions that I've flashed now (think I got the car at 27, I know it was under 30), the MPG screen doesn't seem to 'sync Trip A to average' as offered in the settings. I've tried 0'ing my Trip A, as well as resetting the system in full and re enabling the option, but no go... Showing the screen when you turn off the engine works fine though, so I guess 1/2 ain't bad.

Anyone else noticed this on theirs?

Ok, guys, I need your help on this one. I have a 2016 CX-5 GT and just upgraded from 51.x to 55.00.750B.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and all I want out of the infotainment system is for bluetooth to work properly. Right now, I have no problem pairing my phone, playing music, making/answering calls (ok, it keeps thinking I'm saying "jackie" when I say "pattie" and I have no way to correct it). This is the problem - when my phone wants voice input, the Mazda does not engage the infotainment microphone.

What I expect to happen is for it to pause any music, play a tone, and then start transmitting audio from the car mic to the phone.

Apparently this is possible with an iPhone (you can talk to Siri), but even with the iPhone, there is a bug that shows you as being "in a call" - at least that's what others have told me when they try it.

The infotainment system is useless compared to my phone and it's really frustrating that I can't double-click the home button to bring up S-Voice and say "play album Time". As near as I can tell, the voice controls native to the car have no ability to do something like this (and even if they could, I doubt it would work as well). I would really like to be able to use a steering wheel control to activate this feature. Even my $25 bluetooth earphones can do this! Something is very broken with their understanding of bluetooth functionality.

Am I the only one who uses their phone this way?

Edit: Forgot to mention that I had a couple of friends try with their phones. No luck with a Galaxy S 4 or Galaxy S 5.

@Greymulkin, none of the vehicles I've owned have ever allowed me to use the steering controls to enable the phones voice detection (siri or google). But before I switched to android, I did enjoy the connivence of pressing the home button on the iphone and the car's bluetooth mic and speaker taking over the infotainment/radio in the car (as you mentioned it tricks the bluetooth system to thinking you're making a call when talking to siri).

Samsung and Android, don't seem to work the same way unfortunately. Other than placing a call, I have not found a way to engage the car's bluetooth mic.

Regardless, this isn't a bug of the current system and I don't think it can be the infotainment software.

2014 iGT on v55

I like to turn the display off with just the clock showing. However, I've noticed that if I use any part of the system while driving, then switch the display off, the next-street prompt from the nav gets frozen on whatever street it was showing when I turned the display off. It stays like that until a) I go back into the system and do something else, at which point it will freeze on a new street when I turn the display off again; or b) I shut the car off, then start it again, at which point there's no next-street prompt on the display (since it remembers the display-off-with-clock preference).

It's also a bit intermittent--there have been a few occasions when I did something else in the system, then shut the display off, and the next-street prompt was not there...but damned if I can figure out what sequence of commands gets it to do that.

@Gloomfrost @15GTHatch This is exactly what I'm annoyed about in the new version (56.00.513B EUR), switching radio channels on V33 was almost immediate, now I'm having some lag and no tinkering around makes it immediate like before. However to be honest, I like some features of the new firmware, for example when you switch between radio favorites using the control knob, you stay at the favorites screen, on older version whenever I click on a favorite I get exited from the favorites screen.

edit: Does anybody know if there is lag too on one of these versions: 56.00.210A 56.00.230A 56.00.511A 56.00.512A?
