Yeah that's not going to happen...there's just no place to pull enough cost out of these to make it worthwhile for the extra time it takes to design up different pick lists, inventory, etc. I think it would amaze you as to the cost of variability of products. Having products that use common parts allows us to increase configureability without impacting cost in a prohibitive manner.
The ways we could get the price down would be by not anodizing, not remachining the parts with our logo and the airflow indicator, using cheaper fall-apart t-bolt clamps like the ones catchphrase linked to (we would not use worm gear clamps, they chew up hoses when overtightened), and perhaps by using non name brand filters. The problem you run into is that we decrease the value while decreasing the cost. Lose-Lose.
That being said, I LOVE the suggestion. We need more feedback like this on what you all want to see us do with our products (things like this and the mention earlier of an axle-back exhaust option, etc). Keep 'em coming!
