Mazda 3 Rear Bumper Repairs

a few weeks ago - my wife accidentally bumped into someones Mazda 3 and dented her rear bumper

she got a quote initially for around $800 to repair the bumper and repaint.

now she has come back and says its going to cost $1200 to repair it because they are going to replace the foam bumper as well - and on top of that we have to pay for a rental car for her for two days.

i feel like I'm being hosed.

anyone have any idea what rear bumper repairs cost in Ontario?

Personally, that sounds a little high to me, but I've never had to replace mine yet.

I know that the energy absorbers, when purchased new, are around $55. Pulled this number from a 2012 3s... not sure what year that she hit, but the website I used was 2012 MAZDA 3 Parts - Online Mazda Parts.

Sorry for the bad luck and I'm not sure how much help this will be but I do hope it helps...

someone rear ended my mazda 3, i thought it was going to cost like $500 but here was my price breakdown
$300 bumper
$800 paint

..... total bill came to $2904 because the rebar undernearth was crushed, but on the outside it looked not bad.

Additional things that added to the price were license plate lite, those red reflectors at the bottom, labour, brackets, styrofoam and such... the pricing went from a $1000 police damaage estimate, to a $2000 preliminary estimate, to a $2904 estimate after a teardown.

but after the rear end collision, you could barely tell the car was in an accident, the bumper sat funny but no cracks, and it was $2904 to fix

Rear-ended in 2012 Mazda3

I got rear-ended in my 2012 Mazda3 a few days ago. I have scratches and chips on the right side of the bumper and an imprint of the guy's screw from his license plate because he tried to move over once he realized he was about to hit me. Some of the paint obviously came off too.

Since it was not my fault, I am going through his insurance. I am worried that they will try to screw me over and just try to touch it up and not check anything (undercarriage and whatnot). The chips are pretty big. I am wondering if I should try to fight for a new bumper if they don't offer a new replacement? After a mazda3 has been hit, how is the integrity of the bumper? I am doing some research because I don't want the adjuster to tell me it's only cosmetic and won't take safety into consideration because they are trying to find the cheapest way out of repairing my car. I bought this car 3 1/2 months ago with 10,000 miles on it so it is like brand new! I can't believe it has already been hit!

Thanks for your help!
