Lightbulb 2.0 Sky active Mazda 3

Would it be possible to add turbo and other after market parts to the this engine?

I'm sure it would be possible, but would require quite a bit of modifications for make space for the necessary components of a turbo (turbo, intercooler, piping, etc). Not only that, but you would likely need to rebuild the block if you desired a significant amount of boost as the naturally aspirated engine isn't designed for the pressure.

You would either have to lower the compression ratio or run such low boost it wouldn't make sense.

It's possible but you'd have to make space. My 2016 Mazda 3 is compact in the engine bay but it is possible for other aftermarket modifications. You could get a cold air intake since those are easy to install but you'd have to tune it. You could also get a custom cat back exhaust made, there's a lot of options for the Mazda 3.
