thanks man couple of questions though if i got a short ram intake corksport exhaust and possibly some headers would i need to do some transmission mods like heavy duty clutch etc.?
if you were to just do intake and exhaust, you wouldn't need any trans upgrades. there wont be a huge power difference, however if you get a tune as well it may be a good idea to put in a better clutch.
I figured that I'd chime in to offer some better advice then the above post...
Bolting on an intake, header, exhaust and tune for max power won't require touching the clutch, unless you don't know how to drive properly or you start abusing the car suddenly, after performing the modifications, which of course will result in shorter clutch life but even with the "spirited driving" style, the OEM clutch should still last a long time, if you shift perfectly (I don't see how any experienced driver shouldn't be shifting perfectly as it is. It is not that difficult to shift a few gears smoothly.)
The above mods only add what, 30-50hp maximum. The original clutch should be able to handle much more then that before an upgrade would be recommended. Still though, I wouldn't dive in there until the original one wore out. Why throw away a good clutch just because you THINK you need an upgrade to handle a 30hp increase in power.
I'm positive that you can supercharge the Skyactiv engine, bringing the power up 100hp and the original clutch will still hold power just fine... For a while. Lol.
