Hey Gang,
How small is mazda as a player, in the automotive industry? I always hear my buddies, say they are surprised they are still around.. Looking at some google stats, they have 6 percent of the market? They basically have no ad, spending for marketing - and they relay on customer satisfaction - which is great as well..

Are they a small fish in a large pond? I see they back in the blacks, now, making profit, due to the new skyactiv line up.. Its getting harder to do business, and I assume the auto industry is pretty tough, with low margins and Competition from other auto makers.

Also mazda is making cars in mexico now? Any thoughts< ? not trying to poke fun at mazada - but want to better understand them, and how they have been able to battle the bigger auto makers.

Thanks - zoom zoom fan..

I thought I would move this post to the proper forum location.

I do a lot of mountain biking and I purchased a hitch and a bike rack for my car.

This weekend my buddy and I went downhill mountain biking so I had two bikes on the rack hanging off the back of the car. The back end sags quite a bit like this as you can see from the picture. Do you think this is bad for the suspension? I normally only drive around with one empty bike rack on the car which is only 23 lbs and it doesnt sag at all.

The combined weight from the bikes is about 75-80 lbs, the rack with both bike attachments is about 42 lbs and the hitch itself weighs 25 lbs. So the total weight hanging off the car is about 147 lbs.

I would like to stiffen up the back so that it does not sag as much as it does. Do they sell just stiffer springs that will not change the ride height of the car? I know I could get coilovers, but I really dont want to deal with alignment issues and I dont know how long I am going to keep this car.

I bought the hitch rack over the roof rack due to the gas mileage savings from having the bikes on the back of the car rather than the roof.

So I found a few different options:

Coil spring boosters: Longacre Racing - Online Catalog: Electronic Wheel Scales, Gauges, Pyrometers, Chassis Setup and More! Has anybody done this with their Mazda 3's?

Or

I could buy a set of Eibach lowering springs that only lower it 1.2", however I would need to take them off before trading it it. I wonder if a dealer would actually notice the springs on there if it was only 1" lower.

Or

I only found one forum that said you could use the Mazda5 springs since those are stiffer. Not sure where to find this info though.

Well, didn't see a 'brake' specific section in the sub categories so figured what better place to post than the wheel/tire section. :) Mods may move if they see fit.

Anyway, the front pads have started the infamous squeal so it's time to buy some replacements. Thought it would be nice to see what other members are using and what they have been happy with.

Seeing that the car is my wife's DD I'm looking at using the Centric Posi Quiet Cermaic pads. I've used them in the past on my Protege5 and have been very happy with them. As for rotors I'll look into getting them machined if possible or replace them with the Centric Premium.

Just wanted to let you all know I will be in Vegas this coming weekend with some friends. If anyone plans on going there, let me know and we can meet up...granted the entire time will be spent in the pool, drinking, going to performances, and other adult activities ...We really do not have much room for anyone to stay with us since it is going to be 5 of us (plus my friend's company's condo, with four Asian chicks hmmmmmmmm) so hopefully if anyone plans on going they have their hotel room booked...if you absolutely need a place to crash we might be able to work something out...hope to see some of you there!

So i was thinking of making a thread of parts. Some prefer OEM for qualitty, some prefer aftermarket for it being cheaper. So i thought this would be great to have a thread which compared the quality, price, and appearance.

Do any of you have an accessport mount? I'm looking to buy one but don't know how I would run the cable to keep it from looking trashy. Right now the cord hangs over my legs and into my center consol. Any ideas? Do you keep your accessport plugged in at all times or just some days? Pictures of mounting and where you run the cord would be great thanks.
