FS: Gen 3 Raybestos ST-43 Track/Race Brake Pads – Front & Rear

Items FS: Front & Rear Brake Pads
Fits: 2014-2016 Mazda 3
Compound: Raybestos ST-43
Price: $275 Shipped

Last year, I was going to take my car to the track, and I couldn't find the brake pads I wanted to do that with. So I had Porterfield Brakes make up front and rear sets of Raybestos ST-43 track/race pads for me. Then I decided to go another route and never used the pads, so it's time for someone else to use them.

If you're a Hawk pad user, these are equivalent to Hawk's DTC-60 pad: A good, solid pad that will hold quite a bit of heat.

Thank you for your interest in the Raybestos brake pads.

The pads were made to go on my 2015 2.5l s Touring. The 2017 part numbers are not online yet for me to compare my car's part numbers to your car's numbers. I called the dealer, and he needs a VIN to ensure he's giving me the correct part numbers. Is that something you can give me? Or, if you call your dealer and get both the front and rear brake pad part numbers, you could then let me know what they are. That might work better, in the event my dealer cannot look up VINs for cars sold in Canada (I'm not sure if that's an issue or not).

FWIW, I think it's likely that the pads that fit my 2015 2.5l will also fit your 2017 2.5l. The pad part numbers on my 2015 2.5l s Touring are:

Front: B4Y0-33-28ZB
Rear: B4Y0-26-48ZB

If you can, please reply via PM or email.

You can. Pads like these sometimes produce more noise on the street - for example, just as you're bringing your car to a full stop. It can take a little longer to bring the car to a stop when the pads are cold, too. I've used them in the winter in Northern New England.

Will you be using them at Tremblant, ICAR, Calabogie, or any of the other tracks in your region?

Are you sure about the rear? I'm guessing that it's b4y02648za.

Assuming that's the case, then the part numbers are the same except that yours end in the letter 'a', and mine end in the letter 'b'. That leads me to believe that the race pads will fit your car, but unless you want to take a chance, somebody who knows more about these part numbers would need to confirm that this is true. I also have no idea who that person might be!

Another option would be for me to lay the pads out on a piece of paper, trace outlines of the front and rear backing plates and brake pads, measure them for width, height, and thickness, mark those measurements on the outlines, and then send you an image so you can compare those shapes and sizes to a set of front and rear pads at the dealer. Let me know if that's of interest to you.

I will tell you that I paid US $503 for the pads, so if these are something you really want then going to this extra trouble may be worth it. From what I see going on in the aftermarket, real race pads are likely to remain special order items for these cars. It's a shame, but I've come to the conclusion that there are very few owners who are potential customers for hardcore upgrades.

There is yet another possibility. I go up to Tremblant at the end of July every year, and if I still have the pads at that time I could stop by. The backing plate shapes will either match up perfectly, or they won't, and the pads will either drop right in, or they won't. We'll know right away if they fit or not.
