Default New to forum. Need turbo kit answers please

I own a 2011 mazda 3 i sport 2.0 and am seriously looking at putting a turbo kit on it. I am currently deployed in afghanistan so i have plenty of time to get it done. The local performance shop in Tampa, Fl called Rev Extreme as agreed to instal the kit on my car. This is what I got in a email from them saying what they would do.

We will do a single sized turbo (Borg Warner top quality), wastegate, and tial blow-off valve. intercooler, All custom tubing with boost guage, upgrade HP fuel pump, exhaust modified as needed and the RX Stage Two dual valve crankcase evac system (crucial), and tuned.

This whole process was agreed to at $5,000.

Does this sound like a good deal? And do you think it will hold fine with me only wanting it to push out 300 to 350 horsepower as a daily driver?

Please let me know what you think any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

350whp without internals? I dont know.. along with the transmission giving out above like 275hp, not sure the stock internals can handle either.. YET i'm not 100% sure at all. all I know is the tranny wont hold 350whp. for 5k you could probably buy a tripoint kit and 2.3 block. and the tripoint kit is already tuned for 2.3 but it is only 240whp/tq

Speed3 internals don't even hold at 350 hp

sorry to knock on your plan with this bad news. And stay safe in afghanistan. Army?..if you do want to get to the 350 hp goals.. I think cosworth sells rods / pistons for the 2.0 that are ...well expensive.. and for tranny .. I have no idea..

That is terrible news but good news, i addressed the issue with the guys at Rev Extreme and am awaiting a response. To answer your question i am army and I will stay as safe as possible. I do again thank you guys for the info and if anyone else has ideas or opinions please let me know. I am rebuilding the car, thats already going to happen lol, I just want to do it right and if spending a little bit more money is the outcome of what I want then I will have to just suck it up and do it.

Thanks again!!

I wouldnt have such a high HP goal, if you could even get there on the 2.0 with just $5000. That is more than doubling the current HP numbers, and that is a huge feat in any engine. I would make yourself a more reasonable and reliable goal of 230-260hp and be happy.

all these guys are right, but the 2.0 is still a solid performer(my 1st car), i was looking into the hi-boost kit when i had mine, 230-260hp is quite fast for the 2.0 and from what i remember, the 4dr 2.0 model weighs far less than my current ms3...at least mine did, could be the year gap but anyway...lol good luck with this build, id like to see how this comes out...and be safe!

You guys are all absolutely correct. I am coming from owning a celica gts that I turbo'd and had at 400 hp with a 50 shot of nos so it didn't seem to unreasonable but after hearing all of your opinions(which all were good) I will tell them to step it down to around 250-275 hp. I like the sedan more then the hatchback thats why I didn't just get the speed3. Plus I haven't seen many people do this so I am excited to be one of the first with the 2nd gen. I will keep everyone updated as far as the project goes. Thanks again for everything.
