"Within three hours, the three Cadillacs had lapped the field. Many blamed the balance of performance, with aero and engine balancing having taken place and it looked on the surface to be wrong. However, Cadillac pointed to a 10,000km test programme, including a 24-hour test in November. ESM, by contrast, didn’t receive their cars until December 21.

"You will be able to read about how IMSA did the aero balancing in Racecar Engineering, and there is no doubt that they did a credible job. It was an extensive investigation, done by professionals, so Cadillac’s explanation of simply putting miles onto the cars carries weight. IMSA will no doubt have to make adjustments ahead of the Sebring race in March, but they certainly were not so bad that the Cadillacs were so far ahead by BoP alone. Thank God for the rain, which levelled out the cars and gave us a race – the VisitFlorida Racing team was able to hold on during the wet hours, and were 13s behind the leaders with three hours to go."

Arghhhhh! DPis Slowed in Post-Daytona BoP - Sportscar365

"All cars running under IMSA’s new DPi platform have been slowed in the latest round of Balance of Performance adjustments following last month’s season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

"The Cadillac DPi-V.R, which dominated the race, along with both the Mazda RT24-P and Nissan Onroak DPi, are facing power cuts ahead of next week’s IMSA-sanctioned test at Sebring International Raceway.

"The V8-powered Cadillac has been given a hefty 1.5mm reduction in air restrictor, while both the Mazda and Nissans have lost turbo boost across all power ranges."

They should have waited until after Sebring. The higher down force global P2 cars would have done a lot better. Daytona, just like in NASCAR, proves nothing.
