I'm paying extra for a car to be made from some dude named Koji or Yusuke. I expect a deep discount on Mexican sourced cars...

IME, a lot of Mexican car production is done at high altitude, and Mazda's plant is no exception. The low and variable air pressure wreaks havoc with stuff like tinted plastics and paint. It can be harder to get stuff to match perfectly and sometimes affects fit and finish (to no fault of the assemblers.)

I saw this happen with VW models where some were sourced in Germany and others in Puebla, Mex. You really **really** wanted to make sure the specific car you were getting had a VIN number starting with "W"...

If nothing else, I don't want the first car off the line. Let them work the kinks out first.

Honestly, the automotive market is such a global industry that the final assembly point is really insignificant. If the manufacturer has efficient and effective quality control, then that's all that matters.

Makes me mad that they didn't build the factory in the U.S. Toyota, Honda, BMW and others all have factories here and sell the cars produced in those factories at competitive prices.

2013 MS3 (sold) / 2011 MS3 (sold) / 2010 MZ3 (sold)

2014 Lexus IS350 Silver lining metallic/Nav Pkg (current daily driver)

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone...

My newest vice.
