Default One car you regret getting rid of

OK.. So for most of us, the the Mazda3 is not our fist car. I know I've had a long line of cars and trucks that have spanned over 5 decades of build years.

What was the one car you had that you regret ever Selling/Trading in/Totaling Out/Stolen?

I'll start it off with the '95 Ford Contour SE that was my wife's first new car.

This isn't a picture of ours, but it looked just like it (the pic is a '97, so our '95 would have had the thin chrome strip on the bumpers).

Most people got their taste of the Contour as a rental when Ford flooded Hertz with the 4 cylinder Zetec stripped down version... and a bad taste it was. I drove too many of them on business trips in the 90's and hating them since I knew that this was a car with potential when optioned out properly.

Our '95 Midnight Blue Contour was the top of the line (for that year) SE model that included upgraded suspension, better tires and wheels, side skirts, deck spoiler, front air dam, the 2.5L v6 Duratech engine and the MTX75 5sp manual transaxle. We had Leather and the CD player along with a few other options. The car was a real sleeper since most didn't realize you could get one like ours.

As our family grew from just my wife and I to 4 of us, we traded in the Contour on a SUV. I always wish I had hung on to it and used if to Auto Cross. The size, power, handling and enjoyment of my MZ3 remind me a lot of that car.

My 1991 Jeep Wrangler YJ...I should have taken much better care of it, but didn't know how to back then...it was a matte gunmetal blue, rare color. Softtop. I haven't seen one like it since and can't find a picture of one online either. I used to off road all the time. Never cleaned it, rarely changed the oil. I really wish I knew then what I know now. I'd still have it.

Man, I had SOOOOOO much fun in that thing.

1988 S-15 Jimmy Sport 4x4, 4.3L V6, auto, 4wd on the fly

It was the first year for the new interior and 4.3L V6. The engine was low on HP, but had a lot of torque. It was a blast to drive and looked awesome. There really wasn't anything wrong with the truck when I got rid of it, but an engine rebuild was probably in the near future. I owned the truck from 1996-1998.

Sorry, this is best pic I have.

1972 Volkswagon beetle. It had a sunroof and was painted Toyota super white. I rebuilt the engine 1600,added dual carbs and exhaust, interior, and prep for paint. My neighbor whom was in the Navy Painted it. Spent many hours in the base garage working on it. Bought another 1974 VW convertable, painted it banana yellow, what a car.

'04 SAAB 9-3 Aero SS.

'76 SAAB 99 EMS (my very first car). I just regret the fact that it's my Dad's again (he bought it new off the showroom floor, coincidentally INSTEAD of an Alfa Romeo GTV).
