LDWS and SCBS Amber Light On Cluster

Hello everyone.

I just purchased a 2017 Mazda 3 Hatchback GT with i-sense and something really weird happened today. I was driving at night and suddenly (while idle at a stop light behind another car) the LDWS and SCBS light came on. Both were amber colored. According to the manual it says that there may potentially be a malfunction. I drove for about a mile and the light disappeared. My car is currently at 515 miles and I'm worried that my car requires fixing already. Has anyone had this issue or was this just a false alarm?

Hmm..I'm not sure if this may be it or not:

Quote:
If the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) cannot operate normally due to backlight or fog,
the system functions related to the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) are temporarily
stopped and the following warning lights turn on. However, this does not indicate a
malfunction.
 High Beam Control System (HBC) warning light (amber)
 Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) warning
light
 Smart Brake Support/Smart City Brake Support (SBS/SCBS) warning light (amber)

I don't fully understand it because I only received 2 of the 3 warning lights that should have been on. High Beam Control System (HBC) warning light (amber) was not on at the time and only Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) & Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) warning
light and Smart Brake Support/Smart City Brake Support (SBS/SCBS) warning light (amber) were on.

Hmmm. I wouldn't panic. Keep driving the car and monitor whether it happens again. If it does go back to the dealer.
There are some initialisation processes that happen on a brand new car that can give rise to funny warnings like this so let some time elapse and be guided by whether the issue repeats.

Hi there,

Were you driving in the morning or evening when the sunlight could be hitting the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) a lot? If so, the FSC may have been unable to see clearly and triggered a fault. EDIT: Just saw you were driving at night.

I have had the same thing happen multiple times on my morning commute here in Southern California on my 2017 Mazda3 Grand Touring MT 5-door with Premium Equipment and i-ACTIVSENSE Packages. Because I am a Mazda employee, I let Mazda R&D borrow my car to try to duplicate the concern (they weren't able to), but they retrieved a fault code from the system.

Keep driving your car normally and don't worry about it. I will try to remember to post here if I learn anything new.

Regards,
Loren
