I don't need a car that goes over 100 mph, to be honest. I just want one that gets there from a dead stop in < 2 seconds.

I just need the car to have enough umph, to drive me with all the seat taken, trunk full, roof rack stuff and be able to drive without issue especially during the wintry storm.... No the passenger should be not counted as sandbag for traction as they wont be available year round.

The car during summer, AC on with trunk full and full of passenger is a drag to drive. It sometime want to stalls. I really do not like driving it with more than 1 more person with the AC on.

Mazda MPS - Mazda Open-Minded About MPS/Mazdaspeed Revival

Lets the trolls out. I swear Mazda need to really get on track. All this going back and forth, "i think MPS" "no maybe not" "wait maybe MPS is a yes". Eff that, they have the most serious ADHD issue compared to all other manufacturer. Make up your mind so we can decide if we will continue to like you.....

Maybe there's a high-level discussion/debate/disagreement at the top about whether to pursue the MPS/Mazdaspeed variants? Or maybe the top brass is worried that lots of people are "excited" (want to see these produced), but won't really put their money where their mouths/hearts ostensibly are? At any rate, the message is clear: they're not looking to build a "loss-leader" (not using CUV money to fund such a project), and any MPS-version would need to cut significantly into the GTI's market share to be successful in business ($$$) terms. But are they willing to put engineering and marketing resources into taking that sort of risk? My bet says, "Not at this particular moment...." Would be great to be proven wrong.

Not looking for a crazy speed three but an AWD hatch would be nice with some powah. you know, enough to drag home a trunk full..... But then there is the AWD CX5 eh..... not really my thing though.

Yes and they will bring out another variant of the MX5 with metal retractable speed sensing spoiler, a CX6 and then a CX7 and CX8 to complete their full lineup.

As far as people putting the money toward the speed variant. I have never seen it as major loss. I dont think they can cut into GTI share but every brand usually have a performance variant in their lineup.... unless theyre going the way of Mitsubishi.

Ooof, let's hope not.

At present, feels like the formula is: CUVs (cha-ching!) + under-powered, but fun-to-drive platforms (3, 6, MX5) = survive, if not thrive.... (sigh)

Still waiting....

It has been confirmed that the Mazdaspeed 3 will not roll out for this generation. They will focus on miata and other products so that the 2.5 T on the cx9 will not be put inside the 3 body. If you think about how mazda make their skyactiv cars, you may understand that they make engine, chassis and transmission together. The 3 chassis is hard to put the turbo and AWD component because the chassis is built around the engine. Changing to have AWD and added a turbo will need to change the engine bay of the chassis as well. Mazda afraid of doing more work just like they did to the infotainment system that they never update to carplay or android auto. they cannot simply take the risk of wasting anymore money because ford just released them and they are not doing well in the Jap and Asia market (except for some countries). anyways, the ceo of mazda has confirmed that they will not make mzd 3. a mzd miata is possible tho...

Mazdaspeed 3 was cited as a a boy racer which is not in keeping with the new image the CEO wants. The revision of the Mazda to be seen in 2020 or 2021 might see the reappearance of a turbo charged car so we will have to wait while Mazda spends it money wisely on its new vision. Gone are the boy racers it was a good run. Start saving now cause it will cost between 36k - 41 k.

They have an awd setup for Diesel engine and their engineer state the engine bay are all around the same size and engine should fit. They just don't believe the investment will yield an ROI, I meant people will buy with too many competition.

Is there an expected date for the next generation 3? Does Mazda run on predictable cycles (I think Subaru is every 5 years) or does it vary?
