Along side of the 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback (Euro Spec) that debuted earlier today, the 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback (U.S. spec) was also introduced through a Mazda USA update. There aren’t many differences between the 2010 Mazda 3 sedan and hatchback but the subject of controversy, whether the 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback would have a dual tailpipe layout, has been answered.

The 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback will have a dual tailpipe layout as shown in the photo below:

The 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback will come with two transmission options to pair with its 167-hp 2.5L motor: a six-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic Sport transmission with manual-shift mode.

The technology found in the 2010 Mazda 3 sedan will also be available in the 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback with Bluetooth phone and audio device compatibility built-in, self-leveling bi-xenon headlamps with Adaptive Front Lighting System, five-level heated front seats and BOSE® 10-speaker premium audio system with AudioPilot2®.

2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback U.S. Spec Press Release

Heads turned at the 2008 Bologna Auto Show in Italy, where the all-new 2010 MAZDA3 5-Door was unveiled to the public for the very first time on December 3. The latest addition to the Mazda family boasts dynamic and distinctive styling, giving the MAZDA3 5-Door an undeniable presence. Advanced technology was added to enhance comfort, convenience and the sheer thrill of the driving experience. The fifth door adds a dose of versatility to round out the whole package.

COMPLETELY REVAMPED, INSIDE AND OUT
The totally redesigned MAZDA3 5-Door is sleeker and sportier than ever, with a bold, aggressive stance that’s low to the ground with sweeping aerodynamic curves on the outside and a sculpted cockpit on the inside. The fifth door adds the luxury of versatility, opening up a world of possibilities and allowing you to take along whatever toys you want on any given day. If the convenient rear door weren’t enough, the MAZDA3 5-Door has a 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback, a large center console and spacious glove compartment that will definitely do the trick. Comfort is key for the interior, which boasts available perks like dual-zone automatic climate control, compact navigation system with a full-color display and a 10-speaker Bose® Centerpoint® Surround System with AudioPilot®, as well as available leather-trimmed seats, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory and heated front seats with 5-level variable heat settings, so you can have everything exactly the way you like it on the standard front sport bucket seats.

SOPHISTICATED AMENITIES
The MAZDA3 5-Door features a laundry list of sophisticated amenities above and beyond others in its class. New bells and whistles for 2010 include Bluetooth® hands-free phone and audio capability* with steering-wheel-mounted controls, which allow you to take and place calls without taking your hands from the wheel. It also enables you to listen to music directly from your Bluetooth®-enabled phone or MP3 device*. Available Self-leveling Bi-Xenon High-Intensity-Discharge (HID) headlights with an Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) helps you peer around corners as you drive. Last but not least, there’s the convenient and cool available Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry & Start System with push-button start.

EXHILARATING DRIVING EXPERIENCE
During their incredible redesign of the MAZDA3 5-Door, the engineers paid special attention to what’s under the hood. The newly developed 2.5L engine exceeds its predecessor in power, with an impressive 167 horsepower and 168 lb-ft of torque†. Both the new 6-speed manual transmission and available 5-speed Sport automatic transmission with manual-shift mode deliver a smooth, exhilarating experience that’ll have you taking the long way home.

Remarkably, even with all this muscle under the hood, the MAZDA3 5-Door still gets an impressive 29 mpg highway‡, cutting back the time and money you spend at the pump. In addition to fuel efficiency, the MAZDA3 5-Door has an environmentally-conscious Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) emission system, available in select states†.

STANDARD SAFETY FEATURES
Rest assured knowing that the 2010 MAZDA3 5-Door also has superior safety features. Every trim is equipped with advanced front air bags, side-impact air bags and side air curtains**, as well as a Tire-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. New standard active front headrests automatically tilt forward to help prevent neck injury in a rear-end collision.

For families, every MAZDA3 5-Door is equipped with LATCH child-safety-seat anchors and child-safety rear door locks to help keep small children secure in the rear seats. While standard Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)†† and Traction Control System (TCS) help keep the MAZDA3 5-Door safely on the road during aggressive maneuvers.

* The Bluetooth® system functions only with select manufactured devices. Please consult www.MazdaUSA.com/bluetooth for device compatibility.
† Power figures are lower in Partial Zero Emission Vehicle (PZEV) states including CA, CT, MA, ME, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT and WA.
‡ EPA-estimated mileage. Actual results may vary.
** Always wear your seat belt and secure children in the rear seats in appropriate child restraints.
†† Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is an electronic system to help the driver maintain control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether DSC will be effective in preventing loss of control. Please see the Owner’s Manual for further details.
