2010 Mazda 3 Interior Spy Shot

2010 Mazda 3 Interior Spy Shot

Posted on 11. Oct, 2008 by DeuxEx3 in Mazda3 Guide, What's Hot

The 2010 Mazda 3 was just previewed by Mazda a couple short days ago in a series of three photos that showcased the upcoming Mazda 3’s new design which takes many styling cues from the new Mazda6 and futuristic looking RX-8.

Fast forward to today where the 2010 Mazda 3’s momentum leading up to it’s official unveiling grew stronger through a crystal clear interior spy photo captured by TheTruthAboutCars.com:

In the interior spy shot above you can see more than a few changes that we’ll be seeing on the upcoming Mazda 3. First (and probably the most prominent change) is the split layout of the gauges and information screens which is now similar to the current Honda Civic lineup. Mazda has also relocated the unlock button to the door panel near the window controls and carried over the cupholders from the first generation Mazda 3.

Top end interior options expected to be announced for the 2010 Mazda 3 include Mazda’s advanced keyless entry system with push button start, mp3 hard drive, more steering wheel based controls and multi-stage heated seats. Remote trunk release is also expected on the 2010 Mazda 3 as it appears on four door models for the 2009 model year and should be carried over.

Very ugly. Current generation’s interior looks much more elegant.

Wonder what the info screen is. No storage area by the shifter? Otherwise looks a lot better than the current 3

Anonymous – The info screen displays audio (radio/cd/mp3 etc.) information, heat and a/c settings and the clock. I’m still trying to figure out what is on display on the left side.

There is a small door on the right of the multi-stage heated seats that might be a storage space. The current gen Mazda 3 has a long, narrow indentation near the shifter when you opt not to get the stock navi and it has a BMW iDrive-esque controller.

With the 2010 Mazda 3 I would expect the navigation to be carried over from the 2009 Mazda 6. Here’s a pic of the 2009 Mazda 6 navi to give you a better idea of how the new system will work.

ohh yeah, I see how the new mazda6 has the small door for storage space too. Thanks for the nav pic and yeah I’m trying to figure out what the left display is too.

I like it, but that steering wheel looks too much like a Honda unit for my taste. Love that they are sticking to the dual gauge clusters for the speedo and tach.

They did include a storage area.. but on this GT model (seemingly) it is much smaller and next to the heated seat controls.. i.e. the same spot as the current gen. it’s possible with non-gt models you will get a much larger one similar to current gen maybe.

I like the gauge cluster, but I wish the info section didn’t extend all teh way to the other end of the cluster… it messes up the flow of the whole interior.

Are you kidding me? I wanted to buy a new Mazda 3 but was holding off until the 2010 new model came out. While the exterior isn’t bad, the interior is an absolutely, 100% jumbled mess. Can you imagine trying to clean that crappy dash? I am really bummed. Goodbye, Mazda 3. Maybe next time.

Liking the evolution of the design, except the front. What were they thinking? The front of the ‘Speed3 spy shots looks better, hope they go with that.
