Mazda USA’s September Sales Slide 35.6 Percent

Grim news from Mazda USA today as their total September sales were down a whopping 35.6% with the Mazda 3’s sales dropping a considerable 43.3% as compared to September 2007. Mazda’s new Mazda6 sales were also down by 3.9% while Mazda5 sales rose 26.8% to 1,080 units.
We recently test drove the 2009 Mazda6 and are surprised to see sales of the new model dropping as it has all the components of a winner: sophisticated technology, gobs of power, well built, very comfortable ride and an excellent price.
Potential causes for the decline in sales are numerous with the U.S. economy in turmoil, drastically lower consumer spending and anticipation of the 2010 Mazda 3 encouraging many would be buyers to wait on the sidelines.
