Second 2010 Mazda 3 Interior Photo Surfaces

Not long after the first photo of the 2010 Mazda 3′s interior appeared on the web did we catch this little gem while surfing auto websites. Earlier this month a number of European publications had a chance to test drive a 2010 Mazda 3 prototype and while the outside of the car was camouflaged it seems the interior was anything but.

Fast forward to today where we came across a recently released photo of AutoExpress’ test drive of the 2010 Mazda 3. Although the photo doesn’t reveal much (see below) it does give us a better perspective on the new Mazda 3′s most controversial interior feature: the two-tier dashboard.

AutoExpress didn’t say much about their test drive so further “first hand” details on exactly what the left side screen does aren’t available. Based on our observations and experience from our current generation Mazda 3s we believe the left side screen to be a trip computer display building on the small screen in the first-gen Mazda 3. This screen could display information such as average fuel consumption, realtime fuel consumption, number of miles until empty, dummy lights, tire pressure stats, oil life etc.

The right side screen is likely designed to display audio data like artist, song and album name, radio station number, the clock and heat/air conditioning temperature, direction and other information.

Another interesting discovery is the validation of the 2010 Mazda 3′s optional advanced keyless entry system with push button start (see lack of key slot under windshield wiper stalk). We originally speculated on the possibility of this option being offered on the 2010 Mazda 3 in early September and are excited to see Mazda adding more luxury features to the segment bending compact.
