I thought I'd finally make a build thread so I could be a cool kid like everyone else.
I bought Betty in March. She's a 2012 iTouring 6MT skyactiv. here's the first photo i took of her.
and a few more the next week during work
I really hated the stock wheels so i decided to try out some spare RX8 wheels I had laying around (I also played around with painting them)
I didn't go though with them because the wheel gap was horrible with them on and i wasn't ready to get a new set of tires so i kept the stockers on.
Here's our first 1k together
Corksport's front license plate adapter holder thing was my first official mod
Then I added stickers for extra HP
for some reason all the white cars decided to park next to each other at work
Next Corksport came out with their SRI for Skyactiv so I bought that
I got my hands on some plasti dip and here is the result
Then the unthinkable happened and someone backed into my car at work. luckily it wasn't that bad and the woman that hit me told me about it. I also pulled the video from our security cameras.
pics of the damage
Unfortunately the insurance company listed my car as a 2011 so i got the wrong headlight
i took it back and had them order the correct one so now it matches and i have a spare headlight.
heres my impressive "late night" parking skills at the local whataburger
the gf at the time made me a charmander so he slides around on the dash. also there's always interesting cars around my work.
I found a good deal on a set of rota grids (18x8.5 +44) on CL so i scooped them up and took them to my cousins shop to get installed
rocking that 4x4 status
I got tired of the wheel gap so i ordered some tein s-tech springs i didn't think to take pictures during the install but here are the after pics
when i was installing the springs i also notice the rotas had been rubbing on the rubber splash guards
with the rotas my mpg dropped a steady 5mpg so that was one mark against them. then after my spring install the rear would rub when cornering and over bumps so i decided i should look for other wheels. i found some FD wheels on CL with tires so i went and picked those up.
I also stumbled upon elflako's post on FB he had some foglights for 2012 for $120 so i jumped on those and installed them. I wasn't sure how i was going to power them until i was "inspired" by swsmailman's car when i helped install his springs. He had his fogs wired up as DRLs through a fuse tap so I copied his set up. I went to autozone and bought a pair of H11 sockets and wired up the power to that fuse tap and grounded them at the headlight bolt just like swsmailman.
I also upgraded my low beam, high beam, and fog light bulbs to phillips crystal vision (IMO HIDs aren't worth the price to do it properly and there's no way in hell i'd get a cheap kit and blind everyone on the road)
Update: 11/25/12
my white plasti-dip came in so i painted my FD wheels white.
I also put on an axela emblem and painted it red.
Future plans (in no particular order)
- 20% tint all around plus a strip on the windshield
- paint brake calipers
- bason r window visors
- sub install (I've had a sub since the first month i bought my car i just haven't gotten around to buying an amp/box)
- RSB
- custom axleback exhaust
